Tetsuya Hashimoto, the chauffeur of the Takamura family, noticed that Toshio, an eighth grader in the family, had some issues with his eyes when the two of them were looking at the stars through an astronomical telescope. Toshio's illness was a brain tumor. He was admitted to a university hospital and underwent surgery, but the tumor couldn't be removed, and there was no hope of survival with modern medicine for the boy. Soon a friendly bond forms between the two, in which Tetsuya does everything to ensure that the boy experiences as much as possible before his death.
