The story revolves around Rinka, a wedding planner, who herself has very little luck with romance. When her company links up with dating app Will Will, Rinka reluctantly registers and is matched up with Tomu. When they meet, Tomu looks totally different from his picture, and he soon messages her relentlessly. At the same time, several newly married couples who met through the app are murdered in rapid, grisly succession. All of them were Rinka’s clients. Frightened and coming under suspicion for the deaths, she reaches out to the dating app’s programmer, Kageyama, for help. Reviews
A creatively thrilling ride.
I will keep this review spoiler-free. I saw this in the cinema today and it was not what I would have guessed in any way (nor did it resemble the works some commenters have mentioned). All the way through this film had me fully engaged. It didn’t rely on any cheap jumpscares or implausible elements that would lead to plotholes or break immersion; if anything, what’s scary is the plausibility. There was some serious attention to detail from the cast and creators, which lead to me well and truly enjoying the experience.
The actors all nailed their parts, the soundtrack was unobtrusive but used perfectly when it had its moment (a hard feeling to describe but that moment was perfect). I was left with two small questions that would likely be answered by being better at Japanese, however I can also say I was left deeply satisfied with what I watched.
A little point of caution is that this film is graphic - the murder cases aren’t glossed over and there’s injury detail.
The more you don't know, the better it is!
I personally watched this for tao because i am such a big fan but basically i have no idea regarding the plot except for rinka, the wedding planner met the weird guy ; tomu.surprisingly, there are a lot of depth and references here and there for me who just expecting it is just another serial killer thriller movie.
tsuchiya tao did great as always !! i think this may the first time i didnt see her smile much in a film :')
for sakuma who is a rookie actor, he also did well and matched with all the senior actors. well done, sakkun!
i recommend you to avoid any spoilers as much as you can so you can experience the value of this movie.
