Anti-hero ML with glutonous, naive FL

With the recent slew of anti-hero MLs for mini series, Wei Shangzhi (played by Li Qi Ge), is one of the most charismatic because of the way LQG played the character. If you’ve watched The Legendary Life of Queen Lau, Shangzhi is like the younger version of the Grand Chancellor Liu Xie if the story was centered around the anti-hero.

The FL Bai Zhi (played by Yang Xiaoting) was poorly written for me with the main character description as a glutunuos, naive lady. But at least YXT is very pretty and makes BAi Zhi’s character adorable and tolerable. Her chemistry with LQG is ok and there were some interesting and sweet scenes related to food that some might find off putting if you’re a germophobe but I like it.

What I don’t like is the mini series got confused if it was a romcom or a court intrigue drama because it introduced some problems that were poorly explained/resolved and the logic was so ???

I would recommend this as a filler to bide your time while waiting for the regular Cdrama to drop. Just play it in 1.5x speed.

Good mini-show with an interesting love story

This is a very good mini-show. The storyline is interesting and although the subbing was really bad at times, I understood most of the story. With better subbing it would have been clearer what was going on.
Character wise we get this not so outstanding and somewhat naive FL who gets married to a very manly and fierce ML with a hidden past and a terrible reputation of killing people (and wifes) left and right. Of course things are not that simple as we realize when everything unravels along the way.
Acting wise this is not top shelf but it’s definitely not bad. The actors do a fine job portraying their characters despite the short format and I guess low budget. The chemistry between the leads is good and the love story becomes very sweet.
So, if you like something fast and short with an interesting storyline, this is well worth watching.

Could Do Better

The leads are good and are with electric chemistry. But the story flow and the assistant of the FML is the downfall of this mini series.

The story if executed properly could've been good. Sadly, story flow was all over the place and doesn't make any clear sense. The explanation they did towards the end was it's saving grace.

The FML and her assistant was written so disgustingly bad. FML was too easy to manipulate and be bossed around- even by her own assistant! The assistant who was already so sketchy from the start and was able to manipulate FML for own agenda. What annoyed me most was that she didn't even get any punishment for all the slander that he did to the MML and his female assistant. Ugh. That assistant pretended to care for FML but was only in it because she liked her brother. I really hated that character.

Anyway, MML did actually good in this mini series, considering that this was his first role. He was able to portray his role with justice. With more practice and maybe more acting classes, I believe he'll be able to also make it in the c-entertainment industry.

Overall, this mini series is a good way to past time. But it's not something I'd label as rewatch worthy.

Badly dubbed Sweet Romance

Wei Shang Zhi is China's Bluebeard or Henry the Eighth, he's a man who has wed six times -- and murdered all his brides. Bai Zhi will be the Marquis' seventh wife by Imperial edict, and her family is none too happy to hand their precious daughter over to die. She goes prepared - her clothes are stuffed with poisons and weapons. But the unexpected happens, and she soon finds herself intrigued by her clever, handsome groom.

Marquis Wei is, of course, not the person rumor and speculation have made him out to be, and a lot of the impetus of our story comes from the heroine and the local community discovering the truth behind his alleged crimes. Yang Xiao Ting does a nice job of giving us a female lead who is naive but not stupid and whose sweet nature, open mind, and loving heart make her a perfect match for our stalwart hero. Li Qi Ge also does a nice job of depicting the male protagonist - he manages to be warm and kind toward those he trusts while still displaying a cynical and menacing demeanor to the world at large. He plays the role like he is a man with secrets - which is perfect, cause he is.

Both actors struggled some with the choreography of the many holds, catches, and fight sequences, but this didn't really detract from my enjoyment. The story is short, sweet, and clear, which is a blessing because the English subtitles are as bad as I have ever seen. Sometimes what was on screen seemed like complete gibberish and you had to struggle to figure out what the character was actually trying to communicate.

Overall, this is a good short, sweet watch for when you want something light and quick.

This is a drama that could’ve been great but it was not properly abridged. The jump on scenes and plot twists come too abruptly and, in the processed of trying to keep the audience in suspence, the sequence of events and characters’ reactions don’t make a lot of sense. Although there are logical explanations by the end of the series relating the male lead Wei Shang Zhi’s unfortunate marriages and his real reason to marry the leading lady Bai Zhi, the narrative was all over the place and it made the drama’s plot feel disjointed. The actors did the best with what was given to them but, even though the leading couple had some nice moments, their relationship lacked intimacy in their romantic chemistry. Overall, this drama missed a great opportunity to even be good enough to watch.

Outstandingly Bad: Unraveling the Disappointment of 'Dangerous Love

Title: "Dangerous Love" - A Perilous Journey Through Twisted Emotions

"Dangerous Love" is a drama that attempts to navigate treacherous terrain of emotions and intrigue, but unfortunately stumbles and falls flat in its execution. Despite the captivating title, the story falls prey to its own ambitions, resulting in a tangled mess that fails to captivate or engage its audience.

The narrative kicks off with the marriage of the female lead (FL) and the male lead (ML), holding the promise of unraveling complex relationships. Regrettably, the introduction of the second male lead (2nd ML) brings nothing but confusion and an air of superficiality to the storyline.

The revelation that the FL's maid serves as a spy for the 2nd ML, designed to lure her back, serves as an embodiment of the story's shortcomings. Instead of creating a web of suspense and manipulation, this narrative choice simply reinforces the story's lack of authenticity and depth. The characters' interactions, motivations, and actions appear more manufactured than genuinely human.

Throughout the drama, the characters' behaviors remain erratic and illogical, leading to a disconnect between the audience and the narrative. The FL's abrupt decision to divorce the ML upon learning the truth about the 2nd ML feels forced, missing the opportunity to explore the emotional turmoil such a revelation could evoke.

Even the interactions involving the maid and the ML's knowledge of her role as a spy contribute to the narrative's growing sense of incredibility. Rather than crafting an atmosphere of suspense, the drama showcases an implausible dynamic that defies both logic and empathy.

In conclusion, "Dangerous Love" falls short of its potential and falls into the trap of overambition. The attempt to infuse espionage and manipulation only highlights the narrative's lack of coherence and character development. Instead of a riveting exploration of love's complexities, the drama devolves into a confusing mess that fails to evoke genuine emotion or engagement.

For those seeking a thought-provoking and authentic portrayal of love and human relationships, "Dangerous Love" proves to be an unfortunate misstep. With numerous other options available that offer more satisfying storytelling, I recommend exploring alternatives that provide a more meaningful and rewarding viewing experience.
