Recently, thai bls are ferociously betting on cuteness and it pays off: just see the success of My School President! Well, Our Winter is somewhere along the same lines.
Story is very simple: two Thai boys meet in Korea in wintertime and they spend some time together and fall in love. THE END
These are 14 short vignettes giving us every step of falling in love: from meet cute by accident to happily ever after. And all along flogging drinks and brand winter clothing! Product placement and the whole shabang!
Korea is stunningly beautiful under the snow. The actors are cute and oozing chemistry. And the way their relationship deveop is cute!
So this is basically a cute 14 minutes to enjoy and that will make you smile!
What more can you ask from such a microseries?

The definition of cuteness

This won't be an ordinary review, because ”Our Winter” is no ordinary series – no need to summarize the plot, because there is none, no need to analyze character development either. I'll rather define some terms that are frequently used when it comes to BL series, and which do have some relevance here.

First of all, you may have heard about the ”second couple syndrome”, or the SCS, as experts call it, and you may even have had it. The SCS occurs when you and all the other BL series addicts like the second couple of a series more than the first couple. Some examples: ”Until we meet again” - everybody more or less liked Ohm and Fluke, but everybody loved Boun and Prem who became a BL dream couple. ”Oh! My Sunshine Night” involves Ohm and Fluke as the first couple again, and again people loved Noh and Peterpan more.

Then there is also a TCS, or ”third couple syndrome”, which is less frequent than SCS, simply because there aren't too many series with three couples. The most prominent example of TCS is the ”Cutie Pie” series – again, people liked Zee Pruk and Nunew, the first couple, and Max and Nat, the second couple, but everybody was talking about how cute the third couple were, Yim and Tutor.

I cannot count the comments any more that asked for Yim and Tutor to have their own series as lead actors, and they will actually get it. It's called ”Middleman's Love” and will air some time later this 2023. But the gods of BL were merciful enough to give us another series while we're all waiting for ”Middleman's Love” - ”Our Winter”, which brings us to the third defintion of this review – the definition of ”cuteness”.

Because that is what ”Our Winter” is – the definition of cuteness. This series, which was aired on tiktok and youtube, consists of 14 episodes of 1 minute each, and – apart from some product placement for a Korean water brand – it is just 14 minutes of Yim and Tutor being cute in the snow of the Korean winter.

What really surprised me is the fact that I was patiently waiting 5 or 2 days respectively for that single minute every Friday and Sunday at 12 o'clock noon (which was when ”Our Winter” was airing on tiktok where I live), and I wasn't disappointed even once, because, as I said, Yim and Tutor gave the BL world 14 minutes of pure cuteness. My only complaint is this: I wished the final episode had been a little longer – you'll know what I mean when you watch it.

So if you still don't know what cuteness is, I would advise you to watch ”Our Winter”. Binge-watching won't take longer than 14 minutes, and even if you miss intellectual depth or a sophisticated plot (although there are some unexpected twists that will make you smile), you'll only have wasted 14 minutes of your precious lifetime.

Short, cute and sweet

Tutor and Yim are absolutely adorable! I do really like Tutor and Yim together, I think they have amazing chemistry. I feel like these one-minute videos are way too short though! I want more. I need more. It’s ridiculous how excited I am when we get a new little episode. The story is cute, but I do feel a bit lost from time to time as it is a bit choppy at times due to the shortness of each episode.

I am a bit unsure on how to rate it though. I never watched a TikTok series before and is hard to compare it to regular series. The story is sweet, but I feel like there is so much we are missing. The dialog was kept to a minimum. Yet it makes sense as this is a shorts series. I have no complaints about the actors, the music fits nicely. It’s super cute and because it’s so short it’s easy to rewatch – either the whole series or just certain parts (e.g. episode 9).

My story rating is not very high, but considering the nature of the series, I think it’s fair. I am definitely not a fan of this kind of series format, I feel a ton of stuff gets left out and we just get an occasional glimpse into what is happening, but we are not really getting the full story. It was cute and sweet, but that’s pretty much all I can say about it.

very cute and very short (binge them all at once)

Overall: each episode is 1 minute long (14 minutes total), so I'd recommend watching them all in one sitting. Watched on Thai Mini Series YouTube channel.

Room For Improvement
- episodes don't really flow from one to the next, they are more like individual skits
- it would be helpful if the episodes were just a little longer, even 4 minutes per episode instead of the 1 minute
- there was something the characters should have done at the very end of the last episode but they ended it before we got to see it

Mini Series? More like a Micro One.

I love Tutor and Yim. The setting is beautiful and they are both charming.

BUT...each "episode" is like a minute, if even that. Like something that would fit in an Instagram story. I wish it would pan out A LOT more. These are shorter than many teasers, let alone full episodes.

Seems like a waste of money an effort to go all the way to Korea to film these? Other stories that this company, Thai Mini Series, produced are decent, full episodes. I wonder why they decided to make these so short. At least I hope Tutor and Yim had fun while filming this.

Bonita Serie

Mini serie producida para redes sociales, no esperaba mucho pero fue muy linda, algo relajante y adorable, estos actores tienen buena química y estoy deseando ver sus próximos proyectos pero como serie de larga duración, realmente en esta mini series no se aprecia ni la mitad de su potencial como actores, ambos son excelentes, pero comprendo que al ser historia super cortas no se aprecien muchas cosas.

la historia es muy adorable y es tan corta que la puedes ver una y otra vez en una misma tarde... La recomiendo para todo aquel que desee una historia para dejar de pensar tanto o simplemente para distraerse unos minutos. Y como ya esta terminada, creo que le da un plus verla totalmente de corrido sin tener que esperar a que suban otro cap.
