Unrealistic scenes to what could've been a great serial killer movie!
The story actually had potential but the acting and directing of this movie fell short. The female cop, Deputy Wu, as well as the guy helping the illegals, Yu-Sheng, were both impulsive in character and their acting. Would this actually happen in real life? It made the story unbelievable. It had a nice twist as to who the murderer ended up being at the end, but the movie overall was just okay by then. Props to the young girl cop on her role. As for the main actress, who's suffering from PTSD, because her husband committed suicide, would not be working in the real world, as a police officer in active duty IN the field, no less. Ugh...so much hope only to be disappointed at the outcome.

" Ignite the thrilling essence of female power in an action-packed adventure! "
In this FL 's as lead role is very nice and her character is badass too. We need more female badass cop roles for our FL's, it will be refreshing to do with them. Coming to story, it is very simple story with few twists and it is one time watchable. It was streaming on Netflix so i had watched it after seeing their many thriller series from Taiwanese their are giving tough competition to korean series in future for sure. If you love watch thriller movies, then you can give it a try ! Unlike victim's game(Taiwanese series) it is not that much interesting, i have to say that it is not up to rank to other Taiwanese thrillers series in my view. After watching my name series, i thought to give a try to watch it how our FL did it. In this movie, everyone done nice job and acting too. There is only a bit confusion of heroine's husband who killed himself in the FL's car itself. I can't understand that part alone why did he died/ suicide by himself? Rest , it is one time watchable movie. Was this review helpful to you?
Dark and Gritty Crime Story Featuring Poor Police Work
A police detective decides to take her life over the loss of her husband who committed suicide a year earlier, but changes her mind when she discovers dead body nearby. The story was just as expected, abandoning the glitz and glamour of many Taiwanese shows/movies to explore the dark underbelly of illegal immigration and the vulnerable situations , specifically the women, those immigrants find themselves in. The story was suspenseful and interesting due to the mystery of who was killing these migrant women and why. Come to find out it was some psycho who’d been scammed by his migrant wife so I guess he felt the need to make all migrant women pay for her misdeeds. Strange reasoning, but when has a serial killer’s reason for killing made sense.
That part of the story was relatively okay, but the detective part of the story was not great. The FL was a horrible cop. She managed to lose her gun to one suspect who ended up killing himself with said gun. Another suspect managed to get the better of her and nearly smothered her to death. She would go off with dangerous suspects alone without backup and her terrible decisions resulted in her rookie partner being stabbed by a suspect. They’d sometimes call for back up when needed but backup never showed.
We never learn why her husband committed suicide and why she decided to live. Her solving the case did not result in some profound moment for her where she found a reason to live. At least as far as I could see it didn’t.
So while the premise of the story was an interesting one, the execution was poorly done. The cops in this didn’t have to be perfect but they shouldn’t have been incompetent. Moreover the lack of depth in the characters made it difficult to care about any of them.

Bad
This randomly appeared in my netflix suggestions today. The movie is totally new, it has no reviews, only one comment, and almost no genres and tags defined. So, I was pretty much going in blind. The story begins with a body of a woman being found. Then it follows two storylines: that of a troubled detective with suicidal thoughts and her incompetent sidekick, and of ex boyfriend and sister of murdered woman. Both sides are working independently at first to find the killer, but eventually their paths cross and they start working together.
Doesn't sound particularly original, right?
However, merely being unoriginal isn't this movie's greatest vice. After all, if you're a fan of detective noir and thrillers, you might enjoy it even if you've seen something like this many times before. But....
-Every character is a dumbass, making baffling, irrational and suicidal choices over and over again. Also, they have severe communication issues.
-The police is incompetent.
-In reality, the story wouldn't even happen. Fl, who tried to commit suicide with a police gun in the beginning of the movie, would have been involuntarily locked in mental hospital, not assigned a murder case.
-The acting from everyone except the main leads is bad, to the point that some scenes that were meant to be serious look like a parody.
-The representation of Thai people is bad, they are all short, brown and ugly. For a movie that's trying to put them in a sympathetic light, it isn't working.
-What could have been a good soundtrack is masked by constant screaming. You don't know how to build drama? Make them SCREAM.
-The pace is slow, the narrative is trying to use vague flashbacks and prolonged slow slice of life scenes to give these characters more depth then they actually have.
Overall I don't recommend it, there are many better thrillers out there.
