Better Than Part One In Some Ways
In a lot of ways, this sequel is stronger than part 1, but there are also things that you can look past in part 1 that you cannot in this sequel. The highlight of the series for me was getting the insight into how Kiyoi feels about Hira by seeing things from his POV. I enjoyed seeing them in a relationship (something that we did not get to see in part 1).Overall, I felt like progress was made in their relationship - transitioning slowly from the servant/master dynamic to a more rounded relationship with outwardly reciprocation of care and affection. The frustrations come from seeing how deeply rooted Hira is in his low value of himself and how that has caused him to become a ‘toxic observer’. He’s so content with just observing and serving that he doesn’t realise that by idolising Kiyoi and essentially not letting him past the barriers he’s put up for himself; that he’s hurting Kiyoi who is looking for something deeper and wants to be treated as a human and as his partner. What Hira is doing is a form of withholding and it can be just as hurtful and toxic as emotional abuse. I understand why he’s like this. It’s a form of self defence that he has developed throughout his life to protect himself but it’s no less frustrating to watch and no doubt painful and damaging to others because of how acutely unaware of it he is.

Season one, but not season one
I will say I like this season a lot more over the first, for one, even with having less episodes the story and development between Kiyoi and Hira runs a lot more smoother and believable here. A weird critique but I really don't care for the visuals in the opening for season 2. I understand that it's trying to convey a more confident Hira with the way he presents himself in the short intro for every episode. But the visuals are kind of dull and not interesting to look at. I don't really know what else I can put since season 2 is more or less the same as season 1.Was this review helpful to you?
Love the improvement
okay now this season is definitely much much better than the 1st season. both the main role in this one are showing that they're much comfortable with each other which makes me feel that they're getting better with the acting. i see the grow on the character and the plot. also i see something that makes me suprised.in the previous season i know that the main character are cherish and being cherished but i cant really defying it. but in this one i feel both the main character are exponentially grow a lot and they find ways to open up about themself and solve their problem
but also, if you like a masochist paired with tsundere. this one is for you

All the Ingredients that made SEASON 1 GREAT
only a handful of BL's have had successful second seasons and My Beautiful Man seems on track to follow suit. episode one was STELLAR.. a lot of callbacks to season 1 and it has all the magic of season 1 as well.. fantastic job by the team. This show remains the best Japanese BL I've ever seen and I think so many things about this season is reminding me of why I fell in love with these two character.. both of them are flawed people but they make each other better in various ways. I look forward to Hira hopefully realizing he is worthy of Kiyoi and I look forward to seeing Kiyoi opening up even more and not bottling everything up inside which he does a lot.Was this review helpful to you?

cant wait for next ep!!
omg i’ve been waiting for forever for the season 2, it’s actually quite cute even though from the first season i thought the story line was a bit weird cuz hira was literally dying for kiyoi every second, even if he was just existing; but, i have hope, because in the first episode i can already see that kiyoi is actually expressing himself and also hira too, i hope hira can get more confidence with himself and learns that kiyoi doesn’t even hate him and get his doubting thoughts away. ❤️Was this review helpful to you?

Strange but it works
The story continues the two's interesting relationship after high school Hira is still his very awkward but cute self who's internal thoughts scare me sometimes, Kiyoi is still his temperamental self, and their still both bad at communication. But even after all of that I still love them both. The story is just how the two of them navigate their love life because of each other's understanding that they both have faults making both characters mostly Kiyoi have patience with Hira. Hira is still Battling his thoughts of being unlovable or not normal. Yes Hira is a bit strange but when you think about it the only thing that makes him strange is how inhuman he thinks he is so he doesn't allow himself to have simple interactions with other people. Kiyoi gets frustrated by this because Hira lets it get in the way of a lot of things but nonetheless he is patient and tries helping Hira with this by reminding him he is human when Hira gets the idea he shouldn't do something because he does not fit in. and Kiyoi is still trying to adjust to Hira's attachment and admiration for him because he does not know how to respond. Their relationship is strange, complicated, and unique compared to other bl troupes which makes their relationship interesting and overall fun to watch because it can either work out perfectly or end in a total disaster. Was this review helpful to you?

Healing from Toxicity!
I love how short the series is. It means fast character progress without dragging.I admit I was really frustrated with Hira here. How he constantly said sorry, self depracating and esp hate how he worship Kiyoi like God. It just gets annoying at some point.
But, what's beautiful is exactly how Kiyoi has been supportive of Hira
I love how our rude Kiyoi in S1 has grown to become a man who is supportive of Hira, encouraging him to pursue his dream, taking the effort to cook for Hira despite not knowing how. I especially love how Kiyoi says "Don't look up to me but face me"
Its amazing watching Kiyoi grow, and thanks God..it doesn't come to a waste
I'm also proud by progress of Hira when he finally decided that he can be in the same spot with Kiyoi. That's a huge progress from where he was.
I appreciate how each character grows individually as well as a couple.
The relationship isn't perfect (but none is)! Given the context they started out in high school and it's their first love, I'd say cut them some slack before slapping this as toxic.
They are thriving and healing from the toxicity, that's what is important. Many relationship sometimes start out as healthy but also ends up as toxic.
What's important is that they are not falling deeper into more toxicity, but rather slowly coming out of it.
That's how healing work and I can't wait to see the movie now!

no growth whatsoever
they just rehash the same issues as the first season but double down even harder on the toxic parts. it feels like this show is almost gaslighting me to see really problematic behaviour as cute bc characters are in love. if anyone you know displays these issues, RUN! (but also if you feel as strongly as the lead does, please seek therapy bc you deserve so much better than that). there are some aspects that could work in this show but again they are overshadowed by……literally the worst type of relationship…..Was this review helpful to you?
Toxic and cringe
I really had high hopes for this drama and even forced myself to watch S2, thinking I'd get better but I didn't.Their relationship is super toxic and the way he views him as some kind of god and all really made me cringe a lot (the acting is on point when it comes to cringe behavior). They did had cute moments but I feel like they just kept walking in a circle, not talking and resulting them in unnecessary drama.
The ending is horrible as well, I feel like they didn't really resolved their problems and the ending rather felt rushed.
I really tried to like this show but it's just too toxic and cringe overall, I wouldn't recommend it, it's really not my cup of tea.

Was this review helpful to you?
