Stellar Cast and Visuals Can't Rescue an Inconsistent Plot
Firstly I want to start off with positive remarks about the drama that I think are praiseworthy:- Casting: In my opinion, each actor and actress perfectly executed their given roles - especially the main lead. Honestly, I didn't think Song Kang and Kim Yoojung's pair would have such a good chemistry, but seeing their both on and off-camera interactions proved me wrong.
- Visual effects: They made the series more visually pleasing to watch. And I loved the blue-ish hues that was present in most of the scenes.
Now let's talk about the plot of the drama that was the main downside of the whole series.
- The main thing that I hate about this and many other kdramas that's been released in the past few years is the inconsistency of the plot. They start off great. You'll think it's going to be the best drama you've ever watched, but when you reach the middle of it you'll realize that you've been completely mistaken about it.
By the trailer of the series, I've expected it to have arranged marriage as a main trope (and maybe if they sticked to it, the drama might have been much more successful? idk). But the whole hired killer to crime mystery plot ruined everything. The way writer kept traumatising Dohee with all of the 'almost been killed' events - couldn't they think of something else? (I understand that it's just fiction but still)
- The plot with No Sumin being the person behind all of the murder attempts also feels strange. I feel like it would have been better if it was someone like Ju Seokhoon who seemed all innocent but ended up having reasonable intentions to kill both Madam Ju and Do Dohee.
- And I agree that the plot just felt like a recycled version of older legendary kdrama plots (like Goblin, Doom at your service, Strong woman Do Bongsoon and etc).
Overall, I think My Demon is a good kdrama option to watch when you feel stressed and just want something to entertain yourself

Good start, wobbly ending without explanation
So basically its a good show if u are not a too much fan of k dramas. Like u haven't watched alot of k dramas before. I have only watched 3,4 kdramas but i was still bored and i realized that it has alot of same old stories and they even copy goblins scenes. Even a child can tell.So basically fl and ml was hella beautiful. Super classy and cute. Only good thing about drama.
I have alot of questions like why the hell the grannys childs become so evil for no reason and adopted daughter wasn't? Why the hell granny prefers and loves her adopted child more then her 1 and only grandson. I totally agree that she has beef with his son but why with her grandson? His grandson didn't even done anything wrong. And nah don't tell me she hated him for wrong doings but wait she was cold and oblivious to her even in the 1 episode. Her adopted daughter and her grandson was of same age but she keep on acting like he doesn't even exist and fancy fl like what. Granny, aunt and even dohee which were all super powerful, rich, educated, clever and CEOs yet everyone was unable to see all the abuse noh do gyoun go through. That is so unnecessary. I feel so wrong about that kid. He was the youngest of all and yet he has to have such tragic life as well as death too.
So the main villain said he was a sinner even before he committed any crime. We didn't get to explore that part. In the end V get visions of his mother but not his own son which he brutally assaulted and mutilated for no reason. It should have been included.
Now coming to plot like it was same as goblin. He dies to save her then she wished to see him and he appears.
The god was way too comfortable living in human world. Come on god, don't u have anything to do? The sister was way to useless and didn't even contributed to the plots was only there to bring comedy. The assistants was there to give 2nd hand embarrassment with cringe romance. I like how jin star give up being a villain after 1 attempt. The overly protective ju soek hyuen also gives up after 1 attempt. Not even a single crazy plot twist. Even the past lives were unnecessary only bring the issue about Catholic beliefs. like what. They literally showed the villains in the very first episode. And in a well developed, well educated, work orientated country like korea, there is a demon living happily and telling every other person about his identity so easily and everyone is believing him like its very common.
Overall I watched all the drama (skipped some useless romantic scenes) and i was impressed at firt some episodes but then it went 👇. But i completed anyway cause leads were way too handsome and pretty to skip.

Demon of boredom and cliches
A great cast but can't justify the shortcomings of the story, which is boring and moves too slowly.Despite being a fantasy-based show, the instances of magic and fantasy elements are surprisingly minimal, which is disappointing for a show about demon as ML.
The lack of imagination in the storyline makes it hard to fully engage with the world the characters inhabit.
The framework of the plot bears a striking resemblance to numerous other K-dramas, such as My Roommate is a Gumiho, Tale of the Nine-Tailed, and My Girlfriend is a Gumiho. The repetitive theme of a supernatural partner losing something crucial to their existence within a human counterpart feels uninspired and overused.
Additionally, the suspense throughout the series feels baseless, lacking the depth of conspiracy needed to keep viewers guessing. By the sixth episode, it becomes all too clear who the real villain is, making the story predictable and less engaging.
The chemistry between the leads is nice, but they sometimes seem awkward together. Their acting is good, though. But the lackluster plot and predictable twists ultimately prevent it from reaching its full potential as a captivating fantasy drama.

It surprises me every episodes
This drama literally has all genres. At first, it may seem predictable but I too was wrong… it kept unlocking so many plots, so many twist and turns. The mystery to the story is what kept me hooked up. I’ve read so many discussions, theories and assumptions of viewers around the world and its so interesting how mind boggling it is. The actors are great at portraying their roles, they gave me all sorts of emotions. The romcom, the fantasy, the thrill, and the historical drama w/c I loved about kdrama was present too. It’s so hilarious, heart warming and heart breaking at the same time. Was this review helpful to you?
A very "re-watchable" worthy Romcom Mystery drama
It's the type of drama that reminds you why you love watching kdramas in the first place.I'm sure most of you have the same concerns when it comes to Song Kang being the main lead in dramas. He wasn't an A-List celebrity and hasn't made a big name for himself in the acting industry yet so his dramas wasn't always a "must watch". I was a little hesitant to start this drama at first but it was always trending #1 on Netflix so I decided to give it a try. I love Kim Yoojung in romance dramas like Lovers of the Red Sky, Backstreet Rookie and Love in the Moonlight, so I was like "why not?" Went in with no expectations but boy was I wrong for doubting the quality of this drama because the ending of the first ep left me breathless and I immediately binge watched 5 episodes after that.
I think the production value, the soundtrack and the chemistry made this a very enjoyable romance drama. The ending for every episode is very pretty and it made you feel "things". The soundtrack and the editing works very well to make you feel like you're really watching a "romance Kdrama". It brings out this very romantic feeling that made you feel like you're in love yourself. Song Kang and Kim Yoojung were dubbed as the 'visual couple' in this drama and their charms definitely brought out the 'rewatchable' value. The two of them also brought out their emotions very well and I was so touched I cried for the first time in a drama.
Their chemistry gets better and better as the episode goes on, it makes you wonder if the actors were attracted to each other in real life. They felt shy in the first few episodes but their chemistry gets better it becomes perfect. You can feel that the actors genuinely enjoyed the kiss scenes in the episodes. Every interaction felt very natural and enjoyable to watch. Curiosity got to me so I watched the behind the scenes for every episode and they seemed to get along very well with each other off screens too. Their behind the scenes became a hot topic on twitter, weibo and tiktok, it's always trending in the searches and everyone seemed to be very invested in this couple's relationship and chemistry off screens? I can guarantee there's definitely some sort of attraction between the two. Don't believe me? Watch it yourself.
Plot-wise it was pretty interesting (imo), some people may think it's very cliche but that's actually the writers setting a trap for you. They tried to make it look like a cliche romance drama but there's actually plot twists in every ending of the episodes. There's like 4 different mysteries going on in this drama and the mysteries slowly reveal themselves. Each one leaves you more shocked than the other. I was pretty hooked on the plot because the drama seemed very uplifting but it's actually pretty dark?
Overall, it's a very uplifting, romantic, sweet and cute romance drama with a hint of mystery and very dark themes. I think Song Kang found his color in acting for this one. This character fits his real life personality very well. Kim Yoojung too, it's refreshing to see her as a mature and headstrong character. It's NOT a cliche drama where the male lead always have to save the damsel in distress to satisfy the audience. The couple balanced each other pretty well in this one, both male and female characters save and mend each other in their ways. It also feel like there's no gender barrier between the two, there's a very satisfying equality in their relationship and it feels very healthy.
Song Kang definitely made himself noticeable in this drama. He's never in my list for good looking Korean male actors but whatever they've done here with him, whether it's the styling or the mullet adjacent hair, i couldn't stop myself from re-watching every close up scene of him making those expressions. He made the best expressions in this drama and I can say he improved a lot in acting. Kim Yoojung is pretty good too, as a more mature and headstrong female lead in this one. It's very refreshing to watch the two of them together.
I couldn't help myself but gave it a 10/10 for this drama. The plot, the soundtrack, the actors, the chemistry, it fits the type of drama I'm looking for and I love it so much I even bought the soundtrack album myself so it's definitely a must watch if you love romantic dramas. Not your cup of tea if you expect a more fast-paced drama. If you're a person that loves romance, this is for you. if not, watch it to relieve some stress.
fyi: i know kpop idols like zhanghao and ricky watched my demon too. possibly because it's so popular in china and they're both c-line idols. you should def give it a watch if you're a die hard romantic

Good to Unwatchable
The script and acting and direction IMO made it impossible for me to watch after EP 09I really liked it up till the two main characters got romantically connected then it was so cringe I could not watch it and I love romcoms but IMO it was poor in every way.
The female lead should be better than this, but it was shot as if she had not been acting from the age of 10.
The terrible presentation of the two lovers was incredibly bad, poor storylines (Script), poor acting of these romantic storylines (Both Actors) and awful direction (Director).
I tried watching the remaining episodes, but I find I am skipping 80% of the dialogue, it's so bad.
Stopped watching it after EP 14 moved on to many other much better drama's.

its mid
its not bad but its also not "wow omg i love this drama so much" kind of drama, just midway i guess.the cinematography and visual effects is fantastic, i'll give you that. but the narration falls a little too short. the plot is goblin and doom at your service mixed together so its a little predictable. i super love the ml and fl's visuals but if the casting was different, it wouldn't get this much attention tbh.
well, i guess imma give it two more episodes i really hope it gets better.

Romantic Comedy turns to Humanity Self Reflection
My Demon is endorsed to me through my colleagues who thought that Song Kang plays a character to my liking (Guwon) and boy, isn't he? My Demon is not the first fiction that portray demon as a charming and nonchalant men, lean to heartless as he doesn't possessed humanlike emotion. His encounter to a matchmaking and crossed fate to Dohee starts an evolution to himself and both his role as a demon sent by God.As a picky romance enjoyer, I think the quality of romantic relationship My Demon portrays are not my liking and some of the actions are considered to me invite cringes rather than heartwarming. I think the one that not intended to be romantic sinks into me better (especially towards the end after they learn about their tangled fate.) The comedy itself shows better on the side characters rather than the main characters, but I think it is because the complicated trope they share together.
I ended up completed My Demon through the influence of how the Demon character deals with God and its role to follow its heart as it involves himself in human business. It is intriguing from the start of the name choice for Guwon (that means salvations.) In this drama, he is portrayed as a savior for people in desparation but actually really, he is a false hop trying to stir human away from God, I think that is interesting and shows a philosophy the writer possess within themselves. It is then continued in the story of how Guwon evolution to be a demon, a change in faith and bet alongside prayers changes him as a humanlike demon. As a non-human and human relationship enjoyer, it gives an interesting perspective for me. Many Christian values also shared in this drama as the core understanding of Demon itself. The potrayal of God as a woman who takes cover to see human intention also takes a valuable interpretation, I think (I am not a Christian myself, but the saying God is everywhere around you are common in Abrahamic religions.)
The family conflict and classes in this drama is exclusive to the riches and I think that alone is a foundation to not make the drama stir from its conflict, again, maybe it is a tad bit boring at some times and unrelatable for some or many watchers. Me, myself even doesn't really gets it about the business conflict as the main issue of how the family is breaking up and turning their backs among each other. But this conflict, align with the political issues showed in the second half of the drama as the modern issues of human civilizations and challenges are pretty relatable and thus evokes a sentimental reaction for me. I think it is not very unusual for us to experience discomfort through our lack of priviledge and pressure of classes we are in among the society.
Afterall, it is an enjoyable drama, especially after digging in to more than the romance. Song Kang has been an absolute eye candy and his charisma is flowing through together with Kim Yoojung who has a wide range of emotion especially in desparation and joy. I have to bite my nails and knocking the door through some scenes because it is fun! Well done! Digging more tropes like this in Korean drama and perspective.

Great job to all of the cast for doing a great job 🥳 The casting was perfect and each of the cast projected their roles excellently. Song Kang should definitely get more roles like this. Even though others say that the storyline/plot is cliché, I loved it so much and I was entertained while watching the show. Their chemistry was amazing!!! I remembered a time I had to pause and recollect myself because I was gushing too hard. I enjoyed every cute moment with them but I can't stop thinking about how Guwon will stay as a demon and won't age alongside Dohee :( I still find some scenes unbelievable like the last one because how did he manage to stay alive after jumping on a high building?! but at least he can rot in jail. And at least, some of the characters got their redemption arc. Overall, I enjoyed watching the show! If you don't have any problem with cliché romantic scenes alongside fantasy, then watching this drama is recommended. But personally, I don't see myself rewatching this as often in the future.

Didn’t live up to expectations
While My Demon had intriguing storylines, the conclusion of said storylines felt a bit rushed. Some of them could definitely have been more fleshed out. There was a lot of unnecessary dialogue through the 15 episodes. Some storyline decisions were questionable. Mainly regarding the villains of the show. While being presented as evil and powerful, they never felt like a real threat of the ML or FML. Overall, the show had some bright spots but ultimately fails to get to the core of the audience. Was this review helpful to you?

Another boring human-fell for a supernatural-drama
I was excited when I first heard of this, knowing that Netflix produces promising and really interesting shows. However, the drama just fell flat and did not show anything new. The story is about a woman (KYJ) who fell in love with a Demon (SK) because some circumstances forced them to marry each other.Cast was very promising. Kim Yoo Jung, I believe, is one of the best actresses of her generation. I mean the girl is acting since she was a child. And, she's one of the reasons why I was excited for this drama. She actually delivered Do Do Hee to the audience very well. Song Kang, hmmm, well his robotic acting did not help him on this one. I mean, I watched Love Alarm and was rooting for him, but his acting hasn't evolve yet. He was just not able to show emotions on specific scenes. Some scenes expects him to be scary, nope same face. Another scene needed him to show grief, nope same face. I still believe in him, maybe this is just a wrong project for him.
The plot is like a combination of fictional love story cliches. The family drama is also not that interesting and a bit over the top. I get it children is fighting to get the business their mother built but, is it worth killing each other? The plot twist was very obvious. However, I really find the eldest son really scary.
I actually am very disappointed with this one. I was just able to finish this because of a long holiday vacation, out of boredom.
