Scarecrow (2001)

Kaoru, a woman investigating the disappearance of her brother, Tsuyoshi. She eventually finds a letter in his apartment from a girlfriend that was thought to be dead. In the letter, the girlfriend begs Tsuyoshi to visit her in a remote mountain village called Kozukata. Following the trail, Kaoru travels to the village herself and finds that the locals are too preoccupied with their own “Scarecrow Festival” to offer her any information on her brother. As she continues her investigation, Kaoru witnesses various bizarre occurrences that seem to be related to all the scarecrows around the village, which are seemingly growing in number by the hour. Eventually, she comes across her brother’s girlfriend, Izumi, who is apparently not dead after all—but she’s not quite alive either. Edit Translation
