I watched it for Dai Gao Zheng♥️
Roses and Guns is Revenge romance web drama that had a Nice pace and interesting story and mysteries to catch me. I also enjoyed the romance between the main leads and Dai Gao’s portrayal of the smitten warlord lover of our deadly FL. I love the way he desperately wanted to forgive her despite his anguished hatred for her. I also love the way he called her ”the Brightest Star in The Sky⭐️”Was this review helpful to you?
GOOD BUT OK. Not the best show DGZ
I am quite disappointed with the story.The FL is a bit like the star of the show and I felt the drama quite feminist. Finally it's a good thing compared to the usual clichés of women in the Republican era dramas but this FL was quite boring and had nothing badass. She looked like a bad second lead rather than a nice heroine with a heart.
The KISS were rather good, but I didn't feel a palpable chemistry (but it’s was better ep 16). I still stay on maids revenge which remains her best performance. However, the story was a little less overplayed than maids revenge. I found the villain more "credible" and I liked that there were fewer low blows than usual.
I would like to see DGZ in a serious role and a long drama now!!!

Not happy with end
The drama unfolded smoothly, with a unique twist being the female lead's reluctance to disclose crucial information despite repeated inquiries. She remained tight-lipped until she accomplished her objectives, enduring significant hardships along the way. However, the ending left me puzzled. I couldn't grasp why they chose not to conclude the drama on a positive note, with the two characters living separately as the story came to a close. When a femme fatale spy meets a bad boy
She is the rose. He is the gun. This mini drama is about the female lead who is a femme fatale spy on a mission to avenge her family while the male lead happens to be connected to it all.POSITIVE:
- Morally grey main leads.
- Hot kiss scenes. The male lead actor always delivers. Trust me on that (I’m looking at episode 2).
- Manipulative, deceptive, femme fatale female lead.
- Bad boy, obsessive and a bit of a red flag male lead.
- Sensual and a bit angsty vibes (it’s definitely not as toxic as typical republican dramas).
- Engaging undercover mission/revenge plot. The focus is on the plot rather than the romance. Yes the story is fast paced and may feel rushed but for a short drama I was happy with the script.
- Lots of gun scenes (staying true to the title).
- Nice cinematography. I liked the colouring, hair, make up and outfits. The female lead is absolutely stunning.
- Mr. Wu, clearly an actress playing a man. She even has make-up on. Certainly a very interesting side character especially for a cdrama.
NEGATIVE:
- Obsessively in love male lead. His love confession in episode 2 is very abrupt and feels too insta-love. We do get a flashback later and explanation of why he fell for her but still, his strong love lacks depth. He does kind of hate her afterwards so at least the tension between them is on point.
- Funny car accident in episode 2. You just have to close your eyes at some of the “logic”.
- Final episode is an epilogue which is ok but kind of pointless. Instead of that, I would have preferred an episode where we see more of how the main leads fell for each other.
OVERALL:
Don’t expect too much. If you want an entertaining mini drama with undercover spy plot + hot kisses, watch this.

Pre world war era .. 1937-1945 sino Japan war time setting.
It is my first time watching something that expresses pre world war era with chinese POV ... It is always the west countries who propagate their narrative of the world war.... So in my opinion the theme was very refreshing to those who have intellect to feel it... Other than that there was one more thing that I found very impressive is the FL character ... Her potential ..her strong will ..her intelligence ... I love the way she kept her mission over everything .... She is an inspiration for thousands of girls out there who just look for a chance to give up on their already good for nothing career just to get laid ... No offense but we need more of such character to show the world what real feminism means ...ML was amazing as ever I have seen him in a couple of shows and the characters like marshal ... Governor ..etc actually suit him him ...the authority of a strong character actually appears through him quite effortlessly ...
After reading few review I çame to understand some people found the ending quite confusing .. actually after death of general Yamamoto Japanese had to postpone the war ..which gave qin city enough time me to call for extra troops that led to their victory in the region after just a few months of struggle .. As the FL says winter has started ...we will meet when the spring bloom .." hope this helps ????
The drama in my opinion is worth watching I beleive anyone can put atleast one reason forward to appreciate the beautiful story ...
(Of course not for those who are living in a bubble and treat every love story as soft porn )

Revenge or Love???
I liked this drama and definitely would recommend it for a watch.For a mini drama it did check quite many boxes although it wasn't a perfect one or a one that would make you want to rewatch it again and again.
The visuals of the main leads were great. Dai Gao Zheng is known for his visuals and again in this show he fell nothing short of a viewer's expectation. Flora Dai also looked great in the show and to me there seemed to be decent amount of chemistry.
What I liked and disliked together were the FL's determination for revenge although honestly it did make the show interesting.
The drama could've been honestly a little longer showing more interactions between the leads towards the end because believe me you'll know looking at the end why I am saying so.
The story was somewhat predictable, but the actors did a great job keeping me hooked on to the drama,
It was overall a good watch, and I would recommend it to people liking revenge dramas.

Cosas positivas:Los efectos son buenísimos.
El ost magnífico.
Las escenas de acciones son bastantes creíbles.
La parte "romántica" dejaba bastante que desear, a mi punto de vista él era demasiado masoquista y rogon, incluso en capítulos sentía que era un personaje sin carácter cuando se trataba de ella, diferente a lo que era su personaje, un hombre bastante fuerte y con bastante decisión.
He de confesar que cuando empecé el drama el primer par de capítulos me pareció espectacular, después hubo un momento donde pensé en dejar el drama porque la parte intermedia me parecía bastante estresante (por la pareja) pero me quedé por la historia, después se fue volviendo interesante de nuevo.
En sí, la historia estaba increíble pero la parejaaaa...

Per un mini dramma è davvero carino!
Solitamente da questo genere di dramma non ci si aspetta molto sono troppo corti per sviluppare una vera e propria trama ma questo è fatto bene, ha un filo logico e l'ambientazione storica aiuta molto.I protagonisti sono bravi anche tanto per questo genere di dramma.
La storia d'amore è bella un po' triste ma per fortuna alla fine tutti hanno quello che si meritano.
Peccato il finale incompleto che poteva essere meglio, risulta deludente dopo il tifo fatto per la coppia.
Dramma leggero veloce da gustarlo in un pomeriggio!
