dumb FL
First of all, i loved the series. I also love the casts and their acting.Story started out good. I thought we would have a strong FL. And i love the angst about the ML's revenge.
However, starting in the middle of the series, FL became irritating. She got dumb and gullible. Causing all troubles and always needed to be saved.
She became the typical damsel in distress. Her character is easily lead by her emotions. One of her decisions even caused the death of one of the supporting characters.
This would fall more under romance and drama. Revenge/ action doesn't amount much. I love the ending evwn if it's not grand. hoping a different story for the second FL with her new found love.

Great drama. Don't miss it! Beware! Wrong title!
24 episodes 15 minutes each.I always steer clear of short episodes as I find them too shallow and unfulfilling. However, I recently stumbled upon a teaser of this intriguing drama on YouTube. I watched the first episode and was immediately hooked. Despite the fact that episodes 15 and beyond were not available anywhere else, I subscribed to Youku because I knew I had to watch the full drama - that's how good it is.
Of course, there were some inconsistencies in the story, such as the title of the drama itself. The main character is an eunuch, not a governor, but my guess is that Chinese censorship had a say in it. Even though it's a possible Chinese taboo to imagine an eunuch in love, this drama managed to execute the plot without making it feel cheap or tacky. The actors were brilliant and the storyline was captivating - I couldn't ask for more from a drama.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this drama to anyone who wants to watch something that is well-produced and engaging.

Morally grey male lead in a palace setting
This mini drama is about a morally grey male lead who pretends to be Eunuch in order to take revenge, and in the process falls in love with his enemy's daughter (a high spirited female lead). The drama packaged everything that I loved and delivered it to me perfectly.
- Morally grey male lead
- Sweet romance
- Engaging palace plot
- Great cinematography
- Beautiful OST
There are some silly scenes as per usual in a short cdrama but I found them very entertaining and fun to watch. Second female lead is a bit annoying at first but her unhinged behaviour gets funny and her ending is wrapped up well.
OVERALL:
If you love a historical romance with a morally grey male lead in a palace setting, watch this drama.

Recommended watching.
I recommend watching. The story is good, and the leads played their roll well.Rewatch value is 2/10, because it depends on every individual it is rewatchable for them or not.
Music value is 2/10 because I don't know Chinese.
I think there could have been one more episode & the writers could have made a more beautiful & romantic happy ending.
As per synopsis the ML uses FL for his revenge & ML maybe took her to his mansion for this reason, but instead of using her for revenge, he was busy protecting her only. 🤣

MY SOUL HAS BEEN FEED
Firstly my expectations for this series was low I just wanted to watch something I could enjoy but what I didn't expect was to fall in love with so many of the lead characters and that I would root for the main romance so hard. Before I get into the characters I need to rave about the OST. The two songs Empty City and Fireworks Meet The Sky?!?!? Stream those songs IMMEDIATELY they are too good.
Now our male lead Murong Cang does what he needs to when asked to be a cold enuch but my God when he smiles I feel all the butterflies the way he defends our FML is very pleasing to me and my homegirls and sure there were moments where I wish he would give up the tough guy act but when he was sweet he was truly the sweetest and his actor did a amazing job portraying him.
Our female lead Yunjian, I saw a review calling her dumb and as someone who's watched the show please tell me when she was dumb because from jump my sis was thinking before she acted so I'm going to have to disagree with that, I loved her from jump she was sweet and tried her best always standing up for others and wasn't a pushover and she kissed her ML first and we love a women who knows what she wants, a truly amazing lead I was rooting for her from start to finish.
Princess Xueqing at first I didn't like her, for obvious reasons, but as the drama continued I found myself wanting her to get her own happy ending, her relationship with Yunjian in the latter half was truly heartwarming and she got her happy ending and that was all I needed.
Fugui the icon that you are I know they had to kill his character for plot reasons but that doesn't mean I should accept it, that was a real one from jump and watching him die broke me, he shall be missed.
Please watch this drama it's amazing and really well executed if you want a good time without having to watch 40 minute long episodes.

Good start but lost its steam in second half
I was impressed with Deng Kai's acting in Broken the Heart so I was excited to watch this series. What I liked:
1. Deng Kai's acting - I must say I like his acting here more than his acting in Broken the Heart because Murong Cang is more likeable and his make up here is less villainy.
2. First half of the series - was engaging. I kept wanting to go on watching.
3. Supporting characters - I love Fu Gui. His rivalry with Female lead Ji Xiang / Yunjiao was hilarious to watch. I also am surprised with Princess Xue Ping's character growth. I like her ending though wish it was given more screen time.
4. Comedy - I didn't expect to laugh a lot while watching this series.
5. Duke of Defender - He only appeared in the second half of the series but I quite like his character arc. I like that he didn't take typical villain action when confronted by the Emperor.
What I disliked:
1. Second half of the series - I started to lose interest when Yungjiao meddled in Murong Cang's plans for revenge.
2. Romance - I don't sense much romantic chemistry between Deng Kai and Jin Xi Zuan. Murong Cang and Yunjiao were more like brother and sister to me perhaps because of the overemphasis of their childhood. There was also more "push" / resistance between both Male and Female leads than there was "pull" / drawing in.
3. Power - I wish the story of Yunjiao's premonitions were better developed because that was fascinating. I was frustrated when she let go of her ability. She may not want to use it on Murong Cang but well she could use her power for other things.
Favourite scene
When Fu Gui and Ji Xiang bicker about being Murong Can's favourite employee

watchable ..
i love the dramas with historical settings like this one ... story was slow but not entirely boring ... casting could have been better as jin zi xuan was not looking princess like at all she is outstanding actor but her face goes good as modern bubbly girl ... casting her for this role was not the best thing in my opinion and dont know why she and deng kai were not looking very couple like at all .. the chemistry was there in the initial episodes but it just disappear as soon as they become couple ... honestly romance was quite flat ... these two actors are very talented but as duo .. not so good.MY FAV THING ABOUT THIS SERIES WAS IT'S OST "EMPTY CITY" what a lovely song.
and though the title is govenor's secret romance .. but there was hardly any romance and that too was not secret.

Disappointing Female Lead
I enjoyed this at the beginning but then the stupidity of the FL and the trying-so-hard to be a villainess fake Princess started really getting on my nerves. First they had that hint of fantasy where she had that magical bracelet that allowed her to foresee the future. Then she lost it and that was that. She was good for nothing. I don't know if they explain the magic of the bracelet in the later episodes but it looked like they only used the bracelet as an opportunity to foreshadow and give the viewers small previews of what to expect in the series. She loses this bracelet early on and even though the ML said he would "drain the lake" to get it back for her, nothing was being done. You'd think that with the power of foresight the bracelet provided, it would be an important item to get back but nah... buh bye Bracie!! That one scene where she gets kicked in the water was so hilarious. Her clothes were already soaking wet before she even "jumped" into the water that you could see beads of water come off her clothes as she's jumping and a puddle of water on the deck. The editing was so bad there. Makes you wonder how many takes they did for that particular scene.I got tired of watching the FL basically be good for nothing and I was getting annoyed by the same eye-makeup and clothes. She was a very boring and annoying character. The ML had basically three expressions... serious glaring, kinda glaring, snickering but still glaring. Don't get me started on the "villain" guy, General Hu. I couldn't take him seriously as a villain. His acting was mediocre.
I thought I could get through this really easily considering the episodes are short but I could only make it to 12 episodes so far. Maybe later I'll pick it back up but for now, I'm dropping this.
