a refreshing dive with peatfort

I’ll be honest, I’m a sucker for simple, heartwarming BL dramas. No dragons, no complicated plotlines—just two guys falling in love and ofcourse, the sea. And Love Sea delivered on that front.

Now, don't get me wrong, the initial episodes had me rolling my eyes at Mook and her naive antics. I mean, girl, please! But then Vie came in and saved the day. Her character was instrumental in Rak's journey to love Mahasamut. And speaking of Vie and Mook, let's just say their chemistry was about as exciting as watching paint dry.

I'm not too familiar with PeatFort's previous works aside for their cameo in Wedding Plan. I might need to check out Love in the Air soon.

Rak's character was a complex mess, a novel writer who preached about love but couldn't seem to grasp it himself. His character development throughout the 11 episodes was commendable. However, his facial expressions sometimes felt a bit awkward but he had his fair share of cute moments that had me giggling.

Mahasamut, on the other hand, was a breath of fresh air. He was naive but in a charming way. His journey from professing his love to Rak and getting rejected was a rollercoaster of emotions that could have been explored further. I must admit, though, that his hairstyle was a constant distraction throughout the series.

Overall, PeatFort did a fantastic job in this drama. It's easy to watch and doesn't require a lot of brainpower. The concept of loving the sea was refreshing, unlike the supernatural elements in Sunset x Vibes. The steamy scenes were effective and not just thrown in for the sake of having them. The kisses were intimate, and there were plenty of laughs to be had.

Meena was an absolute gem. Her performance was exceptional for such a young actress. Her line delivery was on point, making me think she was a seasoned veteran.

While I appreciate the simplicity of the drama, Prin and Rak's father characters felt underutilized. Their emotional payoffs, especially Prin's, could have been more impactful.

And let's not forget the hilarious moment when Mahasamut's tattoo mysteriously disappeared in the diving scene of the special episode. Clearly, they shot that scene before the tattoo scene.

To sum it up, Love Sea is a refreshing and enjoyable Thai BL drama with a few areas for improvement. But overall, it's a heartwarming and lighthearted watch that will leave you feeling happy and content.

Side Note: Am I the only one who thinks Peat kind of looks like ZEROBASEONE Taerae? ?

An Emotional Romance with a Beautiful Casting

This series is exceptional, surprisingly. I was not expecting it to affect me as deeply as it did, but one had to frankly get through a lot of cacophony to get to the story. But once you did, and evaluated that, it was much deeper than most viewers, I think, realized. It honestly left me emotionally drained. This series, I felt.

It starts out as your typical Thai BL series with a character who seems superficial, spoiled pampered, and arrogant with a ginormous ego. A successful and well-off writer, Tongrak [Rak] (Peat Wasuthorn), seemingly coming to a remote island to clear his head, acts pensive and appears obviously troubled. Good-looking to be sure, but aloof and evidently wants to be left alone. The person who is paid to take care of him while on the island is Mahasamut [Mut] (Fort Thitipong), a bit of a celebrity on the island. He is dropped-dead gorgeous himself and plays with Rak like he is playing a musical instrument. In other words, he is unimpressed with Rak’s status and money. Throughout their stormy exchanges, Mut develops strong feelings for Rak. Rak pretends desperately not to be enamored with Mut but becomes captivated by Mut’s sincerity and utter charm. It does not take long for sparks to fly and fly they do.

Bossnoeul being in the series as their self

I really enjoyed this series considering it has Fort & Pete plus it has Boss & Noeul in this series, I recommend it for all Asian tv series lovers. I love the part where Pete character pours water on his cousin because it shows how powerful and confident he is, and where Pete character is stubborn to Fort character but secretly loves him. It’s very amazing I definitely recommend it, if you have nothing else to watch, you can watch this series it only has few episodes, it’s really entertaining.

Meh

Rated= 3~ 13/50 ~ 2.6
RPG Scene // Goblin's Swamp with only a rusty dagger. Forget it. Just Run.

I was swinging between boredom and wondering if this slightly racist.

Wealthy 'pale' Bangkok writer is tricked into going to a southern island as inspiration for his novel and conveniently doesn't believe in love because of family trauma, but continues to try and convince himself that the islander he's sleeping with is just a sugar baby.

The first 3 episodes reminded me of those tacky holiday romance novels I used to read as a teen and think that's what romance was. Then by ep 4 we switch to a contractual agreement because Rak doesn't believe in love, despite agreeing to stay on the island previously. There's also a lesbian side plot trying to happen but the assistant is just too much of a nerve grating character for me to feel anything for. The whole 'he needs to be tested for std's but I shouldn't be hearing about my boss sex life' may have made me wince like I had stubbed a toe.

Half way through 5 I realised that I don't care about any of the characters and I just wanted to join in on the chat in the BL thread.

Meh. I'll move on. It's not my kind of plot and none of the characters are appealing.

10/10 for the couple!

Oh my god, Tongrak Mahasamut is my new favorite couple now! Their chemistry is so chemistry-ing, I love them from the moment they meet! I really love the island episodes until they change to BKK.

What I don't like:

- The family drama is unnecessarily dramatic. It feels like watching Lakorn when I'm here for the BOYS LOVE part, literally
- Side GL storyline is quite frustrating to watch as it's wishy washy
- I mainly skipped those parts above

What I like

-Couple chemistry, island setting, and ending

I love how they make a reference of meaning of number 0f 8 towards the end. Boy, I didn't expect it to get emotional but it's so beautifully touching towards the end.

While it's dramatic, but at least the situation is resolved. I like how Tongrak actually sees how he has been deceived by his father and he reunited with his mother- putting a solution to the messy family dynamic. This is important, otherwise we just end up with dramatic show for sake of drama.

While the couple story doesn't start as what most would call "healthy", it definitely ends up healthy which is again, important point. In fact, Rak story is very relatable and common IRL- people who shut down their heart but Mame did beautiful job in breaking down why and putting a solution to it. Very well done in wrapping up all these- probably one of her best story- I can see the storyline matures too

What I super like

The super touching and beautiful last episode as well as all our NC scenes!

Our boys KNOW how to kiss and eat each other up. One of the best NC in BLs- one that's hot yet you can feel the love- I love it. It's not a trashy kind of NC, it's just 2 men truly loving and going crazy over each other

I'm gonna miss the couple already!!!

Not as toxic as the other of MAME works...

Sky x Prapai aka Peat x Fort, of course here I come... Haha...

Much like any other MAME works, this also works for me... Haha... I like it. And quite surprising, this time the relationship between the main couple is not as toxic as the other... Of course, sometimes there is no drama without toxicity & sometimes we just crave for it... Haha.... But enough about the introduction, let's just dive into the drama...

Tongrak is a writer of popular romance novels, forced to go to the island by his friend. On the island he met Mahasamut, the local tour guide guy, who loved teasing him... Of course right out of the bat, they start bickering, because Mahasamut thinks Tongrak is just an arrogant city guy & Tongrak pissed cause Mahasamut likes to tease him.

But of course they’re still our main couple. So one thing leads to another, they start their one night stand. And it turns out Tongrak just can’t get enough of Mahasamut, and vice versa. In the end, when Tongrak vacation days ran out Mahasamut just hopped to the ship that brought them to Bangkok.

In Bangkok, Mahasamut has to get the stamp approval from Tongrak inner circle, aka his assistant Vivi & Khaimuk (Mook), Tongrak best friend. And later on, we also get introduced to Tongrak’s family, aka Tongrak’s niece; Meena, Tongrak’s cousin; Prin & Tongrak dad; Jak. Meena is a cute little girl, but Prin & Jak is a whole toxicity itself…

Prin, with her jealousy, tries to bring all the misfortune to Tongrak. And Jak with his own scheme also tries to ruin Tongrak & Mahasamut. So, what will happen to Tongrak & Mahasamut in the end…?

That’s pretty much the story without giving too much clue about what happened… Now let’s talk about what I like & don’t like.

What I like:
+ Peat x Fort. Oh I love their chemistry…
+ The cute Meena
+ Loyal Vivi & Mook

Overall this is quite a good story to tell. I like it.

Below I'll write about what I don’t like, but that also means SPOILER ALERT!!! So read it at your own risk!!!

==================================================
SPOILER ALERT!!!
==================================================

What I don’t like:
- The half baked story. If not about Tongrak & Mahasamut, all the other stories feel like half baked. Like the story about Vivi & Mook. What happened to their relationship in the end…? Or like why Prin is so f*cking jealous of Tongrak…? See half baked….
- I need more background about Jak’s abuse toward both of his children, until Tongrak, his sister, and even Meena are so afraid of him.
- The most unfortunate is Vivi & Mook story. I really need closure for their relationship.

are we all here for the soft core?

This drama is what summer calls for... hot and uncomplicated. Well, it might aspire to look "complicated" by the traumas and supposed depth of characters, but for regular drama-watchers these are just the go-to cliches to make it spicier...
So here we have two flirtatious guys who meet in the gorgeous setting of Thai beaches and develop a love interest with sensual scenes. Everybody is well-off, good-looking, single & willing. The acting is exaggerated but i guess the entire drama is not to be taken seriously. The ML is great at playing a sex-bomb guy.
Joking abt buying a person merely for s*x would be way funnier if Thailand hadnt been reputed as a s*x destination.
The sense of fashion is also weird, the skinny guy looks like a male pimp from the suburbs of Paris in the 70's.
Whoever gives this a 10 is not thinking with his/her mind lol.

Ok series with a few flaws

Mame always writes the most cliché and toxic stories, this is no different. I went into it thinking I would not like it because I often just roll my eyes at the stories Mame creates. That said, I enjoyed the series for the most part.

The guys are cute, and I thought they did a good job acting. I think Fort and Peat saved this series. Their chemistry is great, they act like a real couple. Oh and props to the actress who played Meena as well. That girl, despite being so young, does an excellent job. I think she has a bright future in acting.

There were a couple things that let this series down in my opinion:

* The girls story seemed like mostly filler, and didn't add much value to the series. Their parts either needed to have more depth to expand and explore their relationship, or less depth so they are truly supporting characters. The dynamic here is strange, it almost feels like harassment at times.

* I question the Dad's storyline and how that played out. Without spoiling too much, I can't see how Dad was allowed to get to this point without someone calling the police or involving the authorities in some way. Beyond that, the resolution to his storyline was odd. Like they just threaten to take away the money, and he never bothers anyone again? Why not do that 10 years ago?

Wasted potential

This feels like a whole lot of wasted potential.
The first 3 episodes were pretty solid. The idea of the writer going away to complete a novel was a good idea. He has good reasons to fear love and slowly falls in love with the island boy....
So why did they end up in the city? Once Mut goes to the city all his personality traits magically disappear and hes nothing more than a live in babysitter.
The actor that plays Rak is basically playing the same character as he did previously in his other BL. Sky/Rak are both messed up and their lover spends all their time trying to fix them.
We also never get a reason why Mut is in love with Rak. Rak spends most of the 2 weeks being awful to him and then he leaves his home with nothing but the clothes on his back to be this mans live in sex doll. It makes no sense why he is so devoted to Rak.
I actually really liked the idea behind Raks trauma and would have liked to see it being explored in a different show. His mother marrying a man she basically paid and suffered mentally. His sister being abandoned. His father being nothing more than a loser who uses people and is incredibly selfish. I even liked the moment when Rak looked at his dad and realized how pathetic he was.
I enjoyed the moments when he was tearing apart his cousin as well. It showed a lot about his behavior and the type of people he was around constantly. Like if this bitch was my cousin no wonder you dont let people close to you. It showed why he is the way he is instead of him just explaining it with sad music playing in the background.
Those were good ideas but it also seemed like they were trying to tell 2 stories at the same time.
The light hearted island love story and the darker story involving his family. Muts family is completely cut out of the story by this point.
I honestly think that if they comitted to one story we'd have a really good show. Either go with light hearted island love story and keep them on the island for majority of the story or tell the slightly darker story about a rich messed up family.
Also the GL side plot.... i hated it. I enjoyed Vie as Raks friend but shes a huge red flag. She treated the assistant like a slave and that girl was annoying with her overacting. When she wasnt screeching i liked her. She was kind and sweet and all she wanted to do was her job which Vie made almost impossible with her ridiculous requests. I wouldnt have dated her. She enjoyed causing that girl pain, confusing her, messing with her feelings and not being serious. I would never have believed her if she said she seriously liked me.

TongrakMahasumut...

First i'd like to say the actresses all did a great job especially little Meena but my patience wore thin with the GL part of this story; The assistant, Mook came off as whiny and annoying and Vie annoyed me to with not telling her how she felt instead of bossing her around in disguise for wanting her around. I kept wanting to go back to the boys and in the end anyways nothing really happened with the girls? Idk I guess the Special that I have yet to see will show something but for how long the finale was, something should've happened.

Anyways onto my babies...

Tongrak poor baby, I wanted to hug him and hold him and tell him everything would be alright up till the finale; where I wanted to knock his head a little. Peat did such a great job with the sassiness of the character, which is it to be expected he is our Sky after all. Also really felt the pain and panic within Tongrak as well. He allowed me to relate with the character with his feelings of dread, of not wanting to be hurt, of just wanting to be loved and I know people aren't a fan of Peat's crying but it really tugged at my heart strings. The drama with his Disney villain dad ended a little too quickly in my opinion, I wanted to dig in more to what happened with the uncle and also the drama with the annoying jealous cousin I could've done without; Though I did enjoy that scene in the dressing room.

Mahasumut... as their names together suggests, I in fact did and do love him and not just because Fort played him, though I can't think of anyone more perfect for the role. His persistent, goofy and loving nature, I loved it all. I do wish we dug more into his trauma like a flashback or something like we did for Tongrak but even still i related heavy with him and his need to prove himself that he could make something of himself, especially at such a young age. As Fort does, he tore at my heart with his tears once again so my heart was feeling heavy for Mut at parts and I loved it. Also his relationship with Meena made me wish we'd seen more scenes with her and Tongrak doing family stuff.

TongrakMahasumut...the chemistry...had me squealing like a little school girl. ( I became Meena whenever they were together xD) As to be expected with FortPeat though, they never disappoint me with their chemistry on and off camera. In the intimacy aspect, they really turned up their game; had me blushing so bad from their scenes that I felt like I was totally interrupting something or shouldn't have been watching.

Rewatchability? Overall, despite the lackluster side GL story and annoying subplot with the cousin; I'd rewatch it, mainly for FortPeat.

This is one of the most interesting bl drama I've ever watched.

It's is quite engaging. Only Peat and Fort could do this so well. Like whenever Peat bites his lips looking at Fort, I almost lose myself. It is cute when 'Rak tries to deny his love 'Mut but we all know that he is sooo in love. And this drama also summoned the whole LITA fandom. the guest roles for Boss and Noeul made me feel like I was in heaven. I look forward to LITA part 2 ors smthng. Ohh, I'm sooo inlove with LITA gang. I really really recommend this for the newbies to bl drama's. And of course LITA. I just finished this. I love it. Sad that the drama has ended. but i hope there's a special episode. I would love one.
