A school BL done right

I was glad to have caught on to My Boo even though it did not grab my attention during the semi annual GMMTV reveal for 2024. It has decent pacing, the flirting by Moo is masterclass, the dialogue is well paced, and the it does the job of these rom-com BLs- which is to make your heart flutter and remember your high school romances.

I was going to give a 9 for almost every category after I came to the page to write a review after the last episode, but then I breathed, and thought about the show once my heart has calmed down. When looking at the show subjectively, Keen, who stars as Moo, is the one that carried the show. And he nailed it. His flirting game is strong, the dialogue is tight, and his acting was believable. I don't think anyone can stand Moo-esqe flirting for too long, you'll cave in to his love.
The rest of the cast was serviceable, but that is that. Sea, Aun and Ashi's inexperience really showed. They had some decent lines, but Sea's facial expressions and tone was rather flat. It could be Kang's character, but I think some work could have been done to further express his emotions.
Potae and Payo's storyline was interesting, but it was not fleshed out well and went downhill after Payo confessed his love. Around episode 9 isn't it obvious that Potae like him back? Why does he feel that Potae doesn't like him after those actions? We will never know. The scenes for the both of them are rather flat and it could not further develop them as characters, which is a pity. It would have been better if we had scenes of them interacting, Payo gradually realises that Potae loves him too and its no longer one sided, and they got together at the end. Unfortunately, their solution was a 'sudden confession' style face to face at the end.

Overall, I think the flirting era of Kang and Moo was very well done, though the side couple could use some work. Shout out to Milk who acted as Neth, her dialogues were very believable and she played the 'clear minded friend that guides the emotionally introvert friend to do what is right for love' very well. Also the break up scene was very well done, on Keen's side.

Wonderful Vibes and an Award Deserving Actor

Being an avid consumer of films, I appreciate all types of stories, but being the optimist that I am, clearly I prefer the happy ones. And this is just my cup of tea. It's one of those good mood inducing pills. The series has wonderful vibes all across its length.

Suvijak Piyanopharoj truly deserves an award for the amazing job he did. I hope he gets it. And all the more appreciation for him because he is so young. Not that the other actors didn't do a good job. They did. But "Keen" literally made the entire show, he outshone everybody else by far.

The story itself is not necessarily new and not necessarily interesting, but the main lead did such a wonderful performance that I didn't even realize it until I decided to write this review.

The Moo character is so sunny, so innocent, so sincere, so playful and at the same time so determined, so loyal, so hardworking towards his big dreams (career and love) that it made me wonder: what if all of us were a little bit more like him? Sure, his circumstances were a little better than they are usually in real life, but still...

Also, I deeply appreciate the fact that the film tackles the "fans" problem, and not only that. As far as I know, as a non Asian, fans in that part of the world are quite delusional in their love and support towards their idols and more often than not they have unrealistic demands. Those artists are literally denied the right to a private life of their own. Which is inhumane. I know it's a vicious circle between the moneymakers of the industry, the Asian culture and the unrealistic fans, but the fact that this problem is brought to attention in more and more films is a good sign. Let's hope that things will improve in the near future.

Coming back to the film, it was definitely worth watching. Irrespective of the domain, a person who does well in their work is always shining and inspiring. For the feelings and the energy this show gave me, I ought to thank all the filmmakers that contributed. Thank you and bravo!

Cute and Sweet

I originally wasn't planning on watching Only Boo, but I kept seeing people talking about it and they finally convinced me. While it may have not been the most innovative or exciting show, it was a very fun watch and a really cute romance. Don't expect too much from the plot or characters, but just enjoy the little romance between the main characters and you'll have a good time.

Moo (Keen) is sent to the country side by his mom to focus on school instead of focusing on idol auditions like he has been. His mom says he needs to finish high school before he can think about becoming an idol. However, Moo refuses to let go of his dreams. While in this new school, Moo meets Kang (Sea), a curry rice seller near his apartment. Moo very quickly develops feelings for Kang, and has to partition his time between school work, secretly practicing for idol auditions, and flirting with Kang. However, even after he starts winning Kang over, Moo realizes there a lot more problems to come in this relationship if he wants to be an idol.

Truly the best word to describe this drama is "cute". A high school romance between Moo and Kang develops slowly and eventually turns into a relationship between them, but still has its ups and downs. I think the characters could have had a little more depth, and I wish we got even more back story of both of them to really flesh out their characters more. For a lot of the series, they felt a bit one-dimensional. I also think that the conflicts towards the end could have been sped up a bit just to get some more time with Kang and Moo together. Overall, an easy and fun watch!

Honest Review.

Well, I do like the story, but of course i had to be honest as well.

1.Sea (P'kang) acting were so bad, he need a heavy practice if he's gonna show him self at another project in the furture.

2.Chemistry? They do have it but not that great, because the only side whos working on the chemistry is Keen,

3. Keen Really save this show, if he doesnt then this show will straight to the trash can. Im not saying his skill acting is perfect, but he's the who truely carying this show to live.

4.second couple?, too dragging. Meanwhile it can be done in half of season.

5.Ending feels to rush, and the kissing scene in the last ep feels more like a dream than a reality.

6. The last one : such a shame that they make P'Kang role much feminime while he can stay masculine like in the first trailer.

Cute but a waste of potential

I really didn't expect anything from this series and after the first episode I was ready to drop it, but Only Boo was a pleasant surprise.

The series is not a masterpiece and unfortunately, I feel like it's one of those series that you forget exists a few weeks after watching it.

But for a series composed almost entirely of new actors and being clearly a low-budget project, Only Boo manages to deliver a solid and very likeable plot.

Technically speaking, there's nothing very interesting here. The photography is too bright, the blur and brightness filter is exaggerated, the performances are very limited and the script is very safe, but the actors have enough charisma to hold the narrative together.

If the series had focused more on Moo's transition to becoming an idol and used his time at school and the beginning of his relationship with Kang as flashbacks, the story would have been much more interesting.

It's in the final episodes that the series really grows and has a very interesting plot, but it ends up being a bit rushed due to the lack of time to develop this part of the story. The script lacks balance, which makes the beginning weak and the ending rushed.

Kang is a character that I feel is very poorly explored here. His relationship with his father and his studies could be better developed and there was room to explore the character better. The secondary couple has excellent chemistry, but also suffers from the same simplistic and shallow development.

It's a series that's a bit too silly for my taste, the chemistry between the actors isn't the best and the series misses a great opportunity to tell the story of an idol's impossible love and ends up focusing more on a somewhat boring narrative but even so it's still a cute, light-hearted BL that's very enjoyable to watch.

Music and Art

I guess just like me everyone had no expectations from this drama for many reasons. But it was so good when we literally expected nothing. I hated the official poster so much but now I understand the meaning behind it. As a new couples both the leads had best chemistry. But I liked the second lead couple more. It was a cute, non toxic story overall. Maybe it wasn't perfect in every aspects but it definitely wasn't boring for a single moment. It felt cliche in a good way. It did make our Sunday's special for 12 weeks.

If you are looking for a simple light hearted drama with good music and cast then Only Boo is always there to make your day special!

In the end, it's your usual GMM mediocre series.

BUT it's quite enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, it's a VERY CUTE series until certain episodes, awakening motherly feelings for me personally. At some point I really love KangMoo/SeaKeen. I'm happy that they really are a couple who communicate and their relationship is actually quite healthy.

I personally don't like the second couple haha, especially since in the beginning, Potae was so dense to Yos that at some point it hurt Yos' feelings, it's just not in my taste.

I'm just kind of "???" When the series suddenly became serious as it neared the ending idk but for me it actually became boring af and I found myself skipping through the conflicts. I think this would be better if it was a cute series from the start till the end. As usual from the typical GMM: there is time skip, there is cursed episodes lol I expected it and wasn't surprised but it's okay. Overall 8/10 from me. I love the dynamics of SeaKeen and I hope there is another series from them.

cutness overloaded

From beginning of this drama I fall for KangMoo they are so cute together. This drama stole my heart literally and is one of my favourite so far for this year for sure. It gave me emotional rollercoaster of sadness, happiness, anger I felt so connected while watching this and I was so impatient every week and wanted new episode quicker. Thank you so much for those 12 weeks. I don't want to contain any spoilers but 2 sad episodes were too many but good thing last one is full of happiness.
in general not to drama KeenSea did a really great job I hope to see them again in other series because they deserve it ?
Worth to rewatch it.
Recommend it ??

GMMTV's young actors never disappoint !!

I saw this show when it aired and I swear it's one of the best BL series of 2024. I was not sure if SeaKeen would live up to my expectations as I hadn't really seen them before, but they literally exceeded my expectations ! I loved everything from the storyline to the cast, the ending and even the OSTs. Also, this is one of the few BLs where the guy can actually dance/sing.. lol.. The chemistry of SeaKeen was sooo good, it really felt like puppy love, and their acting was just too good. It also felt really nice to see Book's cameo, and Milk's too!! The second couple was also so cute, their story was also super interesting, it really felt so goood!! I feel like this show deserved so much more recognition, it is really underrated.. I definitely recommend it to people who like simple BLs, not any spice or complex story line, Looking forward to seeing more of SeaKeen <33 !

Cute and fluffy ?

I'm here to share my very first review on mdl?
This was a show which I was waiting to watch since the announcement and there is a specific reason for that... After My School President, Gmmtv proved that they can still create magic by highschool BL's. And Yes!!!! I like to say that they proved it once again. In a single sentence, it's a really cute and funny show for those who loves light-hearted BL's.
Detailed review:
As a viewer, still a part of me can't accept it as a top series .... During the first half of the series, I kind of believed that this would turn out to be one of my top favourite bls . But after the introduction of the idol thing, it went down. Many parts were not convincing for me ( like the re- audition thing) , because I don't think this kind of luck happen in real life too... And also I felt the ending kind of forced...
Then Coming to characters and acting, Everyone did pretty good according to their characters. But I would like to give a special mention to Keen, for making Moo this much adorable ? Then another special mention to Book's character( Shone) , for entering into my most annoying characters in bl history. But I'm happy that my summoning spell worked by bringing the perfect man for Shone? Coming to chemistry, Sea and Keen definitely have a great chemistry but I felt the same thing lacking between the second couple ( maybe only for me)
Then coming to OSTs I can only say that ' not bad ' + requesting Gmmtv to avoid those annoying background sounds ?
In short, This is a simple, cute and fluffy one time watchable show for me , which made me smile on my boring Sundays ?( Pretty sure that this won't be everyone's cup of tea)

Finding Your Happiness...

When the first few trailers for this show dropped, it barely registered on my radar. Not because it looked bad, but I just don't remember seeing anything that might have grabbed me like some of the other BLs with bigger names and bigger concepts. By the time I even realized the show was airing, two episodes had already premiered, and on a total whim I decided to give the first episode a try, after having taken quite a bit of time away from BLs as a whole to focus on a long list of other media to watch.

All it took was the first few scenes and that endearing charming ear worm of an intro song to completely hook me. I couldn't help it. Keen's lovely vocals and the adorable way the lead couple danced around each other, I knew I was gonna follow this show to the end.

Is this another high school BL with goofy antics and obnoxious sound effects? sure. Is it also so much more than that? absolutely. The writing is tender, the actors do their jobs wonderfully, and the through line of the series is always about these two young people who are just completely in love with each other. It never feels like it's pushing the actors into uncomfortable shipping scenes to get the fangirls squealing, everything feels genuine because these two characters, Moo and Kang, love each other very deeply, and from their first scene together have an immediate connection.

The story is a compelling one, focusing on Moo's dream to become an idol, and the various colorful characters that Orbit him, but the real heart of the show is just Moo and Kang's relationship. Seeing them go from strangers to friends to lovers takes up the majority of the run time with all of the idol stuff serving as a nice background story that eventually ramps up near the end. The show isn't reinventing the wheel by any means, but it takes all the tropes of the genre and utilizes them in a fresh enjoyable way, thanks in most part to the great chemistry of the two lead actors. Every scene they have together is a treat. They really carry the show, which is great because they get a majority of the screen time.

This isnt gonna be everyone's favorite show. Some people might be over the high school shenanigans, the cute chaste romance, or even the dreaded episode 11 curses, but these stories will always hold a special place for me, and this is an example of the genre working at its very best. So if you are on the fence about the series, give it a try, this is your sign to possibly fall in love with two young characters experiencing that sweet, innocent, adorable, awkward and sometimes painful time of first love. In my opinion, it really isn't done much better than this.

Moo is the cutest character I've ever seen

Okay… For some reason I didn’t want to watch this. No idea why, I haven’t seen the trailer, I didn’t know anything about the actors, I just wasn’t interested. WRONG! Know what convinces me to give it a chance? Comment where someone said it’s similar to My school president. I'm a huge fan of MSP and when I heard this, I just had to watch it.

And I got hooked after a few minutes. I can’t believe Keen and Sea are that young. Their chemistry is amazing and they are so cute together! Their scenes were amazing and great.

Moo is definitely the cutest character I’ve ever seen. Have you seen his smile? Damn, if I was a girl in that universe, I’d be head over heels in love with him. Kang as well. Damn, those two really match together.

The thing is, both of them are newbies in the entertainment industry, but it’s really hard to believe. Well, the same thing I thought about Gemini and Fourth and look at them now. I see KeenSea can be the same as they are and I hope they will be. I want to see them again.

Side couple? They were cute as well. I totally love them both. I mean, all four of them. Kang, Moo, Yos and Tae. It’s really hard to choose which couple I liked more. It’s impossible. For me at least. I just wish YosTae would get more screentime because I feel like there was much more they could show us. I feel like their story lacked something and I’ll explain it later.

In the synopsis, there is something written about the no-dating rule in idol agency, so I thought they would date secretly and drama would come. Nope, nothing like that, only by the end. Moo is so cute while flirting with Kang. I love how he fell in love at first sight and then did whatever to pursue him! Aww that was so cute!
When the no-dating rule came, Many people were complaining and saying that it was totally unnecessary, but I feel like this part was actually needed. In my opinion both couples needed it.

Now I’m going to say something about Shone – Moo’s cousin who also had a crush on Kang. So many people hated him and said he should disappear and let them be. But he did. When he found out Kang was Moo’s crush, he let them be together. He flirted with Kang again only six months after he and Moo had broken up. I see nothing wrong here. His feelings for Kang were real and there was nothing wrong with them.

I understand why people don’t like it, but I personally did.
Now I’d like to say something about the end. I feel like it was too rushed. When I saw the preview of the 12th ep, the first thing I thought of was: I feel like this is gonna be too much drama for one ep. Too many things are unsolved and I think Yos and Tae deserve much more than one ep to complete their storyline. And I think that even now after finishing. It was too rushed.
