"Girls on Fire", a third edition to the shows "Phantom Singer" and "Super Band", a competition consisting of only female main vocalist material to create a new vocal group dominating a "NEW KPOP" genre, creating a strong vocal group such as MAMAMOO. Girls On Fire means 'passionate and cool women', represents so-called 'women who know how to have fun' who enjoy the stage with their own music style. Unsure what to do with this

I honestly am not sure what to say about the show. The premise is great, a female group based on vocals. What we got in the end... I'm unsure about.

First off, we didn't get to know all the participants properly. Some barely got screen time, others had very one sided footage. I do appreciate that there was little to no evil editing - but it's not like they didn't lead the viewer into a certain direction either. Sooner or later it was obvious who'd make it to the final. I know there was an audition beforehand, but sometimes it got a little boring to the average viewer because everyone had amazing sounding voices, so it imo was a lot more about who stood out the most visually and had a little personality from the bits of background footage we got to see. With some of the girls it was even obvious they'd debut no matter what, because they got to talk about their history as idols etc. Slightly frustrating imo.

The thing that bothers me the most about this show though is the aftermath. It took the show days to post on their social media about the final lineup. And then the group just disappeared. They didn't get a name either. If you're not following them on social media currently, you won't see them at all and their accounts imo make it appear as if they're not even working together right now. Which is odd because they have their first concerts with the top 10 this week. You'd think they'll promote those concerts, show rehearsal footage, but nothing. I'm assuming they'll announce a group name and album date, but who knows. It's really sad that the momentum this show had worldwide thanks to some of the performances going viral on Tiktok wasn't used. By now most people will have forgotten that it happened at all.

Mini update on 27th July: The first concert was supposed to happen today. No footage of it can be found online, nor is the concert listed on the location homepage. The girls all seem to be on location, someone even posted from Japan, which would be very odd so shortly before the concerts. So... yeah. No idea what's happening.

Tl;dr: The show itself was good and the performances enjoyable to watch - but what came out of it as a result, so far, is just very frustrating as nothing is happening with the group. Maybe in the future when the group is active, this will be more fun to watch to see how far the girls have come.

Update 23rd December: We now know that JTBC never had a music company on board and that they were simply hoping that someone would pick the girls up once they win the show. Please do NOT watch this show, don't give it more views. None of that money will reach the girls most likely, JTBC doesn't deserve that kind of support.

A big dissapointment

I got in this with the hope for something similar to Phantom singer and better then build up.
It is better then build up, but only an inch. Because it have no mnet evil editing.
They said they want something similar to mamamoo at the end. Unfortunately, they block this path by eliminating interesting voices. The group we will get, will be on the better KPOP side. But not as strong and different as Mamamoo.
The only different voices in the finales aren't in the top 5 of the judges ranking. I would love a similar group like Yunjeongs group in ep. 9 to debut later.
I would recommend watch the good performances on Youtube. No need to watch the whole show.
