The rating is too low for this drama!!!
I just completed this drama. It was spectacular. Were there any plot twists? not really. Was it a wonderful drama? Hell yes.I know nothing about the weather and need to state that at some points in the show i was very lost as to what was being said at first but it is just like the real world. I know nothing about predicting the weather and that being said i rarely watch the weather news but after this i think ill need to.
The concept of this drama is not particularly new. Sort of reminds me of MER or Code blue in the sense that SDM is a new organization and it is still in it's trial period.
I dont think there is a scene which was draggy. I felt emotion from each character in every instance.
I honestly think that this drama showed real world weather problems and also the humans who insure the safety of a country prone to natural disasters and work in the background.
I love that there was no "Villan" and there was no "dumb" characters. Most importantly there were no arguments between characters. Just a blunt man and his colleagues who will prioritize the safety of people during natural disasters using meteorology as a way to do so. I hope this gets renewed but even if it doesnt im happy that this drama was made.

A Cool Meteorologist Jdrama
BLUE MOMENT is a really cool Jdrama about a hard working team of meteorologists. I enjoyed the cast and story, although a few aspects could have been a little less unpredictable. Even still, it was a show full of both adventure and disasters, following a team of people dedicated to fighting for the survival of others against all odds."The Meteorological Research Institute is where members of the Special Disaster Management (SDM) risk their lives to save lives threatened by enormous weather disasters, using their wisdom and knowledge. Kankuro Haruhara is a research officer who struggles on the frontlines of the disaster scene as chief of the SDM. Meanwhile, Aya Kumota is a research assistant who is fluent in Chinese and a hard worker, but sometimes can be too straightforward."
This JDrama series is really well done series and made for a good watch. I really liked this drama and really hope to see more like it in the future.

Epic Meteorology Storytelling
In all honesty, I thought this show would be drowning in scientific and mathematical language that I would never understand, would be so confusing, and would eventually make me quit watching. However, that was far from the truth! Each episode was filled with different stories of guest characters for that episode and the main cast; filling in the back story and history of the "SDM" quite well. The stories within each episode were vastly different, yet somehow managed to stay on track with the main plotline(s), even helping to showcase each special knowledge/"power" that made up SDM as a whole. I really liked that even though the team was created with civilian safety in mind, meaning the team gathered the most respected and knowledgeable people from each specific field (ie: fire fighter, doctor, meteorologist, topography, mechanics, etc) that they also took in the "black sheep" or the candidate that may have seemed the most unlikely for such a high stakes, high risk job.
The ending completely threw me! Honestly, I don't think I considered what happened in the final episode (give or take a few moments) in the least. While I do think 10 episodes was okay for this story, I really do wish there were more episodes, or maybe a movie or special (like Tokyo MER) to continue such a thrilling, curious, surprising adventure!

Just my opinion...
What I liked:1) Yamashita Tomohisa. I love his acting, and I really liked his character. Very serious, kind of dry.
2) Deguchi Watsuki. I like her. Her character started out as dumb as a box of rocks, though.
3) The "bad guys" who came around and were all in for saving lives.
4) The concept. I thought the idea of meteorology was interesting and fresh, especially after just having been through a hurricane.
5) The characters all worked well together.
Not so much:
1) I didn't think the concept was well-executed. It was a lot of telling us very technical terms.
2) Some of the characters weren't well fleshed-out, which made me not care about them too much.
3) As is the case with numerous Japanese shows, yelling and over-acting.
4) ***SPOILER***The big dramatic loss - I felt it should have been someone else, not someone with a young child. I felt like I was being emotionally manipulated. ***END OF SPOILER.
So, there is a lot to like in this show, but I just wasn't impressed enough with the end product.

Another exceptional rescue drama from Japan
This is a great series! Yamashita Tomohisa turns in a stellar performance yet again. There's a plot thread that runs throughout most of the series, but each episode details a different disaster and how the team responds to it (and grows from it). All the main actors have great chemistry, the science behind the weather is presented in a straight-forward, easy-to-understand manner, and the OST is awesome! Was this review helpful to you?
