"Heaven is nice. I'm really looking forward to it"
meeting under similar circumstances, one was told she had six months left, and the other had a year left. their meeting wasn’t just a coincidence, they both in same situation and same passion; painting. one isn’t afraid anymore, while the other is determined to spend their remaining time with his loved one. tgey build a friendship and romance, eager to face each day together because of their love. eventually, only one of the three is left, placing their heart with Akito too. the Gerbera flower really means a lot. Drawing Closer was full of emotion and sweetness. i love the songs too!Was this review helpful to you?
Sweet, heartwrenching story
Went in knowing it was a sad movie but wow I did not expect it to be such a tearjerker. The story is unbelievably portrayed phenomenally, and whilst it isn’t complex, it really plays with your emotions. The cinematography and ost added a lot to the movie and made it even emotional.
Ren Nagase and Natsuki Deguchi played their roles so well that I can heavily feel the emotions they portrayed.
While there is a lot to be wanted from their story, I think the movie did a fantastic job as is. They were each other’s hero’s.
There is more focus on their emotions rather than the typical visual romance and I really love that.
I definitely have more appreciation for flowers as sentimental gifts - especially for gerberas after watching this movie.
The ending is one of my favorite aspects and favorite side character.

There Is No Greater Purpose Than Service To Others!
As gentle, as simple, and as sweet as the gerbera flowers depicted in this movie, this little romance shares all of the beautiful qualities of those flowers. A vast array of colors and meanings, the gerbera flower, in its short lifespan, is able to convey the full spectrum of unconditional love. After all, it’s not how long you live those matters, but how well you live! This is a touching story about two people, both of whom are terminally ill. Hayasaka Akito is standing on the roof of the hospital, obviously contemplating suicide after learning that he has a year to live when a tumor is discovered in his heart. However, something catches his attention. A young girl (Sakurai Haruna) sitting alone on a bench on the rooftop, drawing in her sketchbook. It’s enough for him to pause and wander over to meet her. Thus begins an especially keen and poignant story of love, friendship, and above all, service.
Akito learns that Haruna has an extremely rare condition, and she has only six months left to live. What baffles Akito is Haruna’s attitude as she tells him that she is not afraid to die. Of course, he begins to visit her often, and he learns that he is her sole visitor. Seeing her bright and cheerful personality, despite her situation, he vows that he can never tell her about his own condition. His action is selfless as Akito realizes that virtually Haruna’s entire life has been mired in pain. He chooses to do all he can to bring some spark of joy to the last months. In this, he more than succeeds.
The true “gem” of the story is that secrets never remain secret for long. It isn’t until after Haruna has passed away and Akito is struggling to fight off the disease that will soon inevitably take his own life. But not before learning that the secret of his own condition was discovered by Haruna early on in their friendship. Determined to maintain Akito’s secret as well as the unconditional love and gratitude for the gift he gave her, she made her own vow to not let him know that she knew. Akito viewed Haruna as an angel, when in truth, both were angels to each other. Akito carried Haruna in Life, and Haruna carried Akito in Death.
It's been stated that there is no greater gift than simply being there for someone. The exchanges between Akito and Haruna are incredibly sweet without being melodramatic. There are no demands for sympathy or sorrow. Each learns to simply be in the moment for each other. Each learns to simply be there for each other. And each learns that there is no love without friendship or unconditionality, and that is the true beauty of this story. The magic of unconditional love. And even though Haruna conveys her love to Akito through the gerbera flowers, we also know that no words are necessary, and she knew that he loved her as well. Actions speak volumes.
Nagase Ren and Deguchi Natsuki have real chemistry on the screen. It’s conveyed in their eyes and smiles, which is a big reason why the story works so well. My other favorite character was the woman in the flower shop.
Love is actually very simple. We’re the ones who make it complex, no thanks to the egoic mind that loves to put conditions on everything. This film makes me appreciate the simplicity of love, much like the simplicity of the gerbera flower. Keep some tissues handy! You might need them!

I have a good cry on this
Its a Japanese sad romance film. Very heartfelt and touching movie it brings the "Fault In Our Stars" movie vibe by giving us hope. I know that theya re both have hopeless journey in their battles but they find ways to be hopeful and be happy in their own simple ways. One is afraid in dying and the other one is looking forward to see heaven but when the FL meet the ML she make fondness of him and makes him feel that he has a special place in her heart and she felt she was special and gives her to be afraid of losing him. They both find ways to make memorable moments that they may treasure. They make sure they make special efforts to make sure that they brings joy to the both of them. They know that they feel loved with each other but had no chance on saying it. When the FL is gone the ML felt bad and sad for it but instead continue in fighting for his battle. Long enough he knew that the FL was making him special in her heart by seeing her last post on socmed the real symbol of the 3 stem of Gerberas. He was happy to know that he makes the FL feel special before she was gone. And not so long ago the ML has also is gone, he is gone happy for he knew that he makes the FL happy he feels happy and content with it.Was this review helpful to you?

I cried the whole time. The thing is starting this movie you already know what to expect but we still love to make ourselves cry for some reason— I’m in a daze it was a beautiful world that they created in just a two hour film. It was heartwarming and sad at the same time I’m filled with emotions lol. I don’t have any complaints I just want to grab my dog and hug her like a teddy bear now. I love natsuki so I anticipated this release so much and I loved it I’d definitely watch it again it felt like a comfort film♡

a beautiful but heart wrenching story
This was a beautiful movie. Tho the story was predictable but there's a part of me hoping that they will get better and live together. But here I am crying like an idiot ??This had me crying at 3 am. I'm so sad because they didn't even get the chance to confess their feelings to each other in person AAHH they deserve so much better !! The fact that she pretended not to know about him being sick ? The letter she posted just for him and the 3 gerberas !! PLS THAT SCENE TOOK ME OUT. They're literally meant for each other because wdym even the dates of their deaths are the same ?! The fact that she called his name for the last time but he was not there ?? PLEASE MY HEART IS ACHING FOR THE BOTH OF THEM. Well, I hope that they can watch the fireworks together, draw & paint each other, and marry each other in another life :) Ayuka was the witness to their pure love for each other <3
For those who are reading this: Don't lose hope. Life may be hard but it won't always be cruel. Even if you might think that ending everything is the only option, there is still hope. There are people who genuinely care about you. You're not alone ! I'm rooting for your happy life that is full of love <33

Cliches done right
No unnecessary drama, no convoluted plots. Just a beautiful story led by great characters and good story telling. Bring tissues, you have been warned. It's a sad movie done right. Brought to you by the same screen writer as I Want to Eat Your Pancreas. Story has multiple emotional scenes that were portrayed brilliantly by the main cast that draw you in from the first scene. While it does not have any twists or shock value it pulls on the viewers heart strings and reminds us how precious every second of our lives are.

A melancholic yet powerful message ?
I absolutely LOVED this film! I was hesitant at first since this was my first j-drama, but I don’t regret this being my first at all. It was heartfelt, youthful, and I continued to support the two main characters throughout their struggles/happiest moments. There were so many clues and hints that were foreshadowed which ultimately led to such a strong yet sorrowful ending. However, I feel that both found solace and comfort within each other and I would recommend if you like a first-love trope! Was this review helpful to you?
Amazingly bittersweet.
I am so glad that I clicked on this movie.Wow, this movie was so beautiful. It genuinely left me in awe. If I didn't believe in soulmates before this, I definitely do now! The journey of these characters was such a sweet and heart-warming one. Their scenes together were touching to watch; they had great chemistry. Being such a melancholic movie only makes it more special. While watching it, I kept thinking about how I didn't want it to end. Also-- Ayakas' journey with them was a nice addition.
I really loved this movie! This has become one of my favorite movies. I 100% recommend watching it!

My second favorite after Even if these love disappear from the world tonight
I really like how Akito went from giving up on life itself to him trying to maximise the time he lives after interacting with Haruna, not really common that both protag dies at the end of the movie but it was done well.I am glad Akito had Miura to take care of him, love him till the very end of his life, just like how he did for Haruna.
its a regret Akito didn't managed to see Haruna for the last time
Sidenote: I love how Yorushika sings my top 2 J-romance's theme song. 若者のすべて and 左右盲 are great songs
