I just finished watching it, and it was really a cruel movie, haha. First of all, the FL was very beautiful, and her acting was more realistic compared to the usual girls in Japanese films. The ML was also very sweet, but the reason I gave a lower score for the acting was because of the ML's poor performance in the crying scenes. I really liked that they included small details in the film without skipping over them, like the sea scene, the number and meanings of the flowers, the final state of Akito's drawing, and its display in the exhibition. I loved the colors and aesthetics of the film; despite being a very sad movie, it was always colorful and lively, which I really enjoyed. The music was also nice. But I don't think it's a movie to watch over and over again; it's one to watch once and stay affected by for a long time. Overall, I really liked it.Was this review helpful to you?
A Raw, Heartfelt Film That Hits Deep
Drawing Closer (2024) is an absolutely spectacular, beautifully crafted film. Japanese filmmakers really excel at delivering powerful, emotional stories—just look at A Silent Voice, Your Name, and I Want to Eat Your Pancreas. This film brings a heartfelt narrative that, while maybe not the most original, shines with a mix of happiness, sadness, and beauty. The cast's performances are phenomenal; they brought such raw emotion to their roles that everything felt almost too real.Throughout the movie, there were four moments when I was on the verge of tears—rare for me! I kept holding back, reminding myself, 'I'm a tough guy, I won’t cry.' Still, this movie’s blend of joy, sorrow, and melancholy lingers, leaving you smiling through the tears. It’s available on Netflix and well worth a watch.
I recently saw another film by the same director, Your Eyes Tell. While not as intense, it was equally impressive. This director is definitely creating 5-star films—I can’t wait to explore more of his work.

Hard to write about
This is a movie that is hard to rate and hard to review, leaving me without words for the first time since I started writing reviews. One could think that that should stop me from writing a review, and it almost did but that alone makes it worthy of a review.
So what can I say, the movie has a pretty decent approach to puppy love at the twilight moments of teens lives. Combining art, youth, and lots and lots of Garberas colorful moments in the hospital gray... Showing people with terminal illnesses with drams, wishes and I guess more than just people waiting for a cure... With lots of moments of color and fun.
As well as shows the value of normalsy... So I guess I did manage to find some words in the end.

Heavy tearjerker
When I first watched this it was fairly new and I was going thru a tough patch in life I just wanted to cry out but Every single drama failed to do it this was that movie that hit very deep and I cried I cried uncontrollably I couldn't imagine how every scene was so cruel. The fact that none of them (akito, haruna and ayaka) could see each other for the last time was tragic. My heart goes to akito and haruna tho they were simply meant for each other but cursed with a limited time in life and in that limited time they had enough love for each other that people that live lifetime would never experience. I have grown up watching tragedies where either the female lead dies or the male lead but what hits me the most is where both of them pass out it's like a closure that makes me hope that, yes they found each other in after like. I have never gone back and watched any tragedies ever simply cause the initial depth it lost ( and yes I feel scared ) when you know it's inevitable but this I couldn't stop myself and trust me I cried all of the times I went back to it.it crushed my heart again and again but I don't regret it I love this I will cry every single time I'll watch thisWas this review helpful to you?
Touching Story of Impossible Love
This movie is so sad and emotional in so many ways. It has a slower start, but the development is worth it. This movie mainly was good for me because of how the characters act. It seems very real and this movie really shows these real human emotions everyone has. It just makes me want to cry when I think of how sweet a story like this is ( T_T)\(^-^ )Was this review helpful to you?

BEST BITTERSWEET
I was hoping for a happy ending but the ending ripped me in bones, and the 3 flowers gosh the acting made it seem real and I sobbed for hours.Do not reccommed for sensitive people also it's very similar to 20th century girl in alot of aspects.
Everything was perfect. The lead actress conveyed her lines and expressions ver well and so did the male lead.

Right person, not enough time
Yall better get ready for a bucket of tears because it's a bittersweet movie. It's about two 17 year old people who are going to die, one of them is dying in 6 months while the other one will die in a year. They met each other on the hospital rooftop and then forward Ren started visiting Natsuki in the hospital. He would bring her 5 flowers (gerbas) every day every time he visited her. I'll stop spoiling it here but from then forward you will have a bucket of tears at the end of the movie because it's the fact they both died and left Mayuu on her own. I'm so sad that they didn't confess to each other that they liked each other, but atleast they would get some time in heaven together. I absolutely recommend this movie if you're into sad love stories. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS!!!!!!!!!Was this review helpful to you?
Watch it while night to cry
It was sad but I didn’t cry, probably because I watched it while it was full day ?, I usually cry a lot at movies like 20th Century Girl broke me. I tried to watch the last 30 minutes again but I couldn’t cry because I already watched it ? I bet if I watched it at 2am I would shed tiers. Overall the movie was good but kinda boring tbh.Was this review helpful to you?
A Beautifully Shot Romantic Journey.
The story is a bit cliché with many predictable romantic elements. It’s similar to animes like I Want to Eat Your Pancreas and reminded me of Anohana and other slow-burn series. While it shares similarities with other shows, it introduces enough unique elements to feel fresh and enjoyable . The acting is excellent, and the cinematography is beautifully shot, with a memorable main cast. It also strongly supports a theme with a positive message that I thought was delivered excellently. Was this review helpful to you?
You know how it ends but it's still amazing.
The synopsis gives you most of the details. You go in knowing it's going to be sad. You prepare yourself. But they have little moments where it's funny and you see the growth of the 2 leads. You see the fondness they develop for each other. It makes your heart warm and you forget there's going to be a break in your heart. It's beautifully written. The acting was a 10. What I recommend is you have tissue ready and if you have a significant other, watch it with them. Hugs help.
