Just a recap
I am sorry for the low rating in acting and music, but to be honest, why woud I give more, sice they did nothing here? This special ep was made of some scenes from drama and put together as a movie. If they wanted to make a movie, then it could be at least 90 minutes long and it could be called: "Deep night: The movie".If you've seen drama, there is no need for you to watch this. I mean, yeah, if you are not over them and want to see them again, then it should be ok for you I guess, but I'm pretty sure youtube, instagram, facebook, tiktok ect are full of recaps like this. Maybe not this long, but they exist and you can put them together.
There is really no need to make "special episode" like this. Please, don't do it again. When it says special episode, we expect something new. We want to know what had happened after the end. Did they fight? Did they go on some trip? Did they ovecome something serious? There are things we want to see in special episode.
There is another option which could be done. Khemid and Wela are happy together ever after, we all know that. But what about Japan, Seiji and Ken? Those three are something new in the world of BL (at least for me), so I personally, want to know hoe they actually work out. Yes, we saw they are happy and this and that, but how? I feel like their story is not complete and I would like to know more about their relationship.

still adorable little penguins
this is not a traditional special episode so keep that in mind when going to watch this.okay, so l'm a little biased because I truly love these characters and I feel like they brought a fresh new style to BL. when I heard there was a special episode I was over the moon.
I will say I LOVE that we got a different perspective of their love story told through Wela’s eyes. I enjoyed seeing things for Wela's side. to be honest, that actually made the story stronger in my opinion.
do I wish we got more new scenes? yes. yes I do. am I upset we got this kinda retelling? no not at all. this isn't a special episode in the sense of a traditional special episode, instead I feel like this made the overall plot of Deep Night stronger and kinda tied up SOME loose ends.
I will say reshowing all the NCs scenes made me chuckle. what can they say? they know their audience well. plus they pretty much made their own edit, so others don't have to ??
I still wish we got more for the truple, it still feels like all the other side couples more or less got pushed aside.
that all being said I still really enjoyed this surprise special episode for what it is: which is the story of deep night told in Wela’s perspective.
I will still give huge props to the fact they learned all the aerial skills for this show. plus to me these two have the energy of two adorable little penguins that I want to keep in my pocket. I really hope we will see them in another series together. ❤️

What news will the creators provide to keep the public's interest alive?
Since its announcement, the public was divided between those who wanted or expected an additional chapter that would delve into the story of all the couples in the series, especially that of Khemthis (Shogun Paramee Thesdaroon) and Wela (First Piyangkul Saohin), and between those who look for unpublished behind-the-scenes images and other elements that serve to enhance the drama. That is, the fans of 'Deep Night' showed their interests and doubts in: whether the content of the special episode would simply collect unpublished conversations from the actors and the filming and post-production team or would also reveal details that were not revealed in the series.
However, 'Deep Night Special Episode' does not satisfy either of them.
"Special" only has the name and a few minutes in which we can see, quickly, and without much depth, the evolution of the main couple a year after the events narrated in the series.
Then, the audience will once again witness more or less memorable scenes from the 8 official episodes of the series, recreated in the voice of Wela, and the incorporation of some new scene that does not contribute to complementing the story, infusing it with expressionism and affecting the viewer.
Due to some of Khemthis's actions in the first minutes, such as preparing breakfast and going to wake up Wela so that they can both enjoy that moment of everyday life at home, the audience might think that the story would be told from the vision of the character played by Shogun (which would be very significant), but we will quickly understand that it is not going that way.
The public will not find on this occasion an episode that reveals interesting behind-the-scenes images that have never been revealed, in which we could see the main couple and the rest of the cast having fun and being close on the set, or playing scenes that make them laugh, cry or express your love, friendship or work relationship at the club.
Nor will we be able to appreciate the long-awaited recordings of the cast's memories before and behind the camera, the answers to fans' questions or the expressions of gratitude from the actors and actresses to the technical and post-production team, which help the audience to have a clearer view of the making of 'Deep Night' and the efforts of the filmmaking team.
The special episode previously sparked interest in the public, eager to appreciate a series of passionate kissing scenes between Shogun and First that have never been broadcast, as well as many other romantic moments that did not officially appear in the series when it aired, but we will have We have to be content with the imagination.
Nor does the special episode please those viewers who think that adding too many kissing scenes is unnecessary, as they consider that this can "overwhelm" the audience, and expect, instead, more of the actors' honest exchange.
Likewise, fans interested in witnessing the cast and producers thank the audience for their love and attention to 'Deep Nigh' and promises to deliver better quality hybrid products in the future will also be left wanting.
Will this special episode mark the definitive and official end of the series?
On May 9, 2024, the day before the premiere of 'Deep Night Special Episode', another LGBTIQ+ themed series premiered a product with the same objective. In 'You Are Mine Special', its creators present an incredible closing to the Taiwanese drama 'You are Mine', from 2023, which pleases its viewers, as it delves into the progress of the relationship between Yao Shun Yu (Hsiao Hung) and Xia Shang Zhou (Parker Mao).
The public's reaction was immediate, and, despite recognizing that it is the perfect ending to the love story between the company's manager Xia and the company's new employee, viewers ask for more.
This explains, without a doubt, that while 'You Are Mine Special' reaches a rating of 8.1 points on MDL and other platforms, 'Deep Night Special Episode' only reaches 6.9 points.
When the magic of discovering new faces in the world of entertainment in general and Thai BL in particular, such as Shogun Paramee Thesdaroon, or being able to examine the latest work performed by already known actors, such as Seagames Teerapat Angkanit or Tanya Tanyares Engtrakul, they are no longer sufficient; chen the expectations of explaining to the audience about the work of the hosts when they are auctioned to entertain the clients who demand escort services with sexual content at the Deep Night Club have not been met, what is left to say to this series? What news will the creators provide to keep the public's interest in Thai drama alive?

disappointing special, mostly recap
Overall: I was hoping to see some progression of the relationships, sweetness and spice, but it was mostly recap and insurance product placements (only 17% or 8 minutes was new footage not related to product placements). Aired on iQIYI https://www.iq.com/play/deep-night-2399g3ygk5o?lang=en_us"Special" Breakdown (47 minutes total)
first 2 minutes was the same scene as the ending scene of episode 8
1.5 minutes of intro credits
1 minute of new footage which looked like it was from the real world/was not scripted
30 seconds of new footage
22 minute recap with Wela doing a voice over (happy Wela clarified something, but didn't like that he basically did a relationship game)
2 minutes of mostly new/extended footage with 1 relationship (this was cute)
6 minutes of insurance ad product placement (new footage, this was okay but wish they hadn't done the product placements back to back)
4 minutes of new footage starting with the mom and then Wela and Khem, some kisses and beginning of something with a very abrupt end to the scene
2 minutes of ending credits
4 minutes of the same aerial silk performance in episode 8 but slightly longer and without cuts to other characters (they could have released this as a special clip separately)
1 minute of more credits
(adds up to 46 minutes but close enough)

Nothing special about it
This should not be called a special episode. It is basically a 30 plus minute recap of the season follows by a couple of short skits that are basically commercials for different kinds of insurance. Seriously don't know what they were thinking. I only have it a 5 because I live the characters and I would have watched it anyways but disguising it as a special episode was cruel. I got all excited couldn't wait to find out what was going on with relationships and I got nothing. I got eating, walking and brushing their teeth when they weren't getting injured to try and sell insurance. What a wasted opportunity they had the perfect platform to reel us all into a spin off show for Great & James or Seiji, Japan & Ken but nope we got insurance commercials, not cool. Was this review helpful to you?
The actual episode would be 10 minutes long
Most of it is a recap (mostly from their kiss scenes), so if you'd cut all the scenes that were taken from the main series, you'd be left with round about 10-15 minutes of new scenes,Is that bad? Depends what you wanted.
I personally hoped for more screen-time for the side characters, maybe get a backstory from one of them or something, which could potentially be used as a base for a spin-off. Or just generally show more of that "happily ever after" of the couples, as episode 8 was quite fast-paced.
It wasn't bad. I did like seeing the polycule again (they're soo cute and need their own series!!).
Just not really needed for me, as I've binged-watched the whole series in a day, so a recap of the main couple wasn't necessary. And their new scenes weren't new character-wise, so that felt a bit shallow. Could've given the screen-time to the BG characters.

More suitable as a "rewatch" than as a "special" episode
Yes, I agree that they get lazy by doing recap with little new scenes, but I still love it lolWhy? Finally, someone piled up all romantic and NC scene into one and do a recap on it! This gives a very warm sweet flashback of their romantic journey. I really love it. Perhaps, this is more suitable for a "rewatch" when we miss the couple, without having to rewatch the entire series. In that sense, it might not be that "special" an episode
It's also quite nice to hear Wela's POV and how he feels. Also, I love seeing the throuple again. I wish they have given us new NC scenes after they are dating lol
Overall, if you're looking for something new or special, there is none. But, if you just love the couples and trhouple and don't mind watching them teasing, bickering, kissing and all, then it's a pretty sweet little watch
