- Male lead in The Rebel Princess treats the female lead with more respect, which I really appreciated.
- Obviously, the female lead in the The Rebel Princess is a princess. She's not a lowly illegitimate child like Moxi in Gone with the Rain.
- Higher production values and gorgeous costumes in The Rebel Princess.
- Longer drama, more focus on palace politics.

Both dramas are similar beacause in both dramas:
1. The male leads are courtiers with military power and also involved in the power struggle.
2. Female leads are partially orphans who were forced to marry in to the ML's family by the schemes of of their relatives to win the favor of the MLs' family.
3. Both FLs are quick-witted and geniuly smart.
4. Both main couples has a bickering relationsjip at the beginning with strong MLs present and independent FLs pictured.
5. Both dramas depicted fictional historical setting with slow burning romance.
6. Both series have very similar genres.

Two dramas are similar as:
1. The male leads are military generals with significant power in both dramas.
2. Female leads are orphans.
3. Both FLs are quick-witted, independant, strong and rather smart.
4. Both main couples has a bickering relationsjip at the beginning with traces of going from hate to love and support.
5. Both male leads are strong and persistent with cold demeanor showed to the outsiders.
6. Both dramas depicted fictional historical setting with slow burning romance keeping the similarity in genres.

Both FLs are resourceful and use their wits to get out of tricky situations. Mainly due to their unfortunate childhood, they have had to learn to be like that and rely on themselves.

Both MLs are generals and have an intriguing dark character.

The female leads in both dramas are strong in character. Mo Xi is feisty while Ming Lan is gentle but both lead in chaotic times.

They both fell in love with a man of questionable character but their partners turn out to be the best life partners.

Fun bickering between female and male lead. Slow burn to love. Comical and witty. Both become each other's strength and back bone.
