Korean government holds a nationwide ‘Kimchi Contest’ to reaffirm its position as the originator of Kimchi in Asia. Jang Eun, who is a famed chef in Japan, comes back to Korea to participate in the contest. She also wants to close down the once-best Korean traditional restaurant that her mother has been running for years. She’s never understood her mother for cherishing the restaurant more than herself and her own daughter. Sung Chan became separated from his deaf-and-mute mother and spent his childhood together with Jang Eun. He wants to keep the restaurant and proposes competing in the Kimchi Contest, and Jang Eun agrees that the winner will have the right to the restaurant. Throughout the fierce competition, they both go into the finals, where they have to find the traditional taste of Kimchi. On the day of the final round, however, the juries and audience are very much surprised to see the process of cooking by the two natural-born cooks... (Source: KoBiz) Edit Translation

This was a predictable but extremely heartfelt movie that really stress the importance of family. Nothing will surprise you in this gem of a family film but it cleverly tugs on just the right heartstrings to keep you watching to the very end. It was so refreshing to see a well-written, well acted movie that tells an amazing story without ever relying on gratuitous violence or sexuality. Also, the stories that unfold around a culture's most prized dish are wonderful and it really makes you realize that to many people, food is the language of love. It's one of those rare films that the whole family can enjoy and despite it's two hour running length the time will fly by.

Well compared to part one, this was a fast paced movie. There is no jealousy and animosity like part one because this was just btwn siblings. Its all about kimchi and I was interested. I dint know how wide a variety of kimchi there was. I like kimchi and av tasted prob 4 different types but this had as many as 20 to 30 different types. Good movie but must see part one first.
