Actually, I didn't want to watch this movie at first. It didn't sound that interesting to me.
I gave it a shot because Kim Soo Hyun has a guest role in it. But I totally forgot about him when I started the movie.

Shim Eun Kyeong is an extremely talented actress. She doesn't have the usual flawless beauty like all the other ones hence her acting stands out even more because she can capture her fans, her viewers with her skills alone. She doesn't need extreme beauty. She has great harmony with her co-actors and that reflects on the screen.

I gave a rating of 10 because I just can't find anything to critize. I enjoyed it from beginning to end and I had to laugh so many times. I had to laugh, I had to cry and I was able to plunge into beautiful music. The songs alone make it worth watching the film. (And damn, I never saw a more beautiful baby than the one in the backflashes)

If there is any long-lasting meaning to the film, it has to be that no one should regret his past decisions and be proud of the hardships he/she overcame in the past. Everyone gets old and no one should live his life in regret. Make the best of it.

All in all, a really touching, enjoyable movie that I highly recommend.

(The ending is hilarious, btw! hehe...)

The first time I saw the movie trailer for this on MNET, I knew I had to watch it. So when I saw it on gooddrama today, I didn't hesitate to start. I am glad that the subs for the movie were accurate too. I saw a movie one time where the subs were just plain wrong. Anyways, on to the review.

The plot - a granny who gets a second chance to be young again and do stuff she wasn't able to do. Because life happened, she had to make sacrifices for her family. When she turned into a young woman again, she embarks on a journey to follow the dream she gave up. It's a comedy with a bit of romance and whimsy. But there's also scenes that will touch your heart.

The actors - I love granny, played by Na Moon Hee. I've seen her in My Name is Kim Sam Soon and Unstoppable High Kick. She is really funny. Shim Eun Kyung who plays granny's younger version was really good in her role. I've only seen her in the movie Sunny, she was pretty good too. Jung Jin Young who plays the grandson was pretty good too. I love his character.

The music - I love it. The songs were great and Shim Eun Kyung has a really nice voice.

Re-watch value - Definitely! It's one of those movies that will warm your heart and make you feel good.

Overall - I recommend this movie.

I thought the movie was going to be more of a romantic comedy but the romance elements felt like an afterthought. If you are looking for a true romantic movie, this isn’t it. This is a dramatic comedy with heartwarming and sincere moments. Miss Granny shines more as a film about family relationships. For me, the film also poses an interesting question. Would you make the same choices in life if you could do it all over again? It’s a premise I’ve seen before but it was still entertaining.

Korean family dynamics are different than in America. Filial duty is ingrained in Korean culture and Miss Granny touches on the subject from various sides. I enjoyed how the movie explored the various relationships of the grandmother and her relationships with her son, daughter-in-law and grandson.

Na Moon Hee’s depiction of the feisty grandma who would do anything for her family was endearing. We should all have grandmothers like her. She was devoted to her family but it was her sass that stood out. Nothing is more entertaining than an elderly person who says and does whatever they want. I liked how the story showed the older generation. They’re not just a grandparent, a mother or a father but people that have lives and interests of their own. I think younger generations sometimes forget that. The teasing banter she had with her close friend Mr. Park was some of the funnier dialogue in the movie.

The best comedic aspects of this film came from watching Oh Mal Soon’s younger self, Oh Doo Ri talk and act like an elderly person though she’s only 20. Things an older person would say or do come off as pure comedy when a younger person does them. Shim Eun Kyung did a good job portraying a young woman with a full-fledged attitude of an old lady. Watching her gait was amusing and I especially enjoyed her character’s unsophisticated country way of speaking. I’m always uncertain if subtitles convey different aspects of Korean speech correctly but I believe I got the general idea of her dialect. The reactions she gets from her eccentric responses in various situations were funny.

Toward the end of the film it gets more serious and I was fine with that. Overall, it was a movie about how a person reacts to life and the decisions we make. I was thoroughly entertained by Oh Mal Soon’s journey and her realizations about her path in life.

On a side note, there’s a great cameo in this movie. Any true Kdrama fan will recognize who I’m talking about. I found that particular scene hysterical. Well played Miss Granny, well played!

Shout out to Netflix for looking out for me and showing me all these great movies!

I had seen the trailer for this movie on tv and kept telling myself to watch this but never got around to it and I'm mad at myself that it took me as long as it did. This is a feel good movie that you can't help but love. But be warned, if you're looking for romance more than anything else, this isn't that type of movie. Don't pass it up though! It's great either way!

Plot | An older woman is given the chance to go back to her younger years and live the life she always wanted. She has the chance to finally go out and do something for herself instead of always having to think about her family first. Of course not realistic and it's nothing new but to me I found it more interesting because the older woman grew up pre Korean War and times were much, much different compared to if this was an U.S citizen (I hope that makes sense to people, might when you watch the movie~)

Cast | Shim Eun Kyung is hilarious! Hands down. I knew after I watched her in Sunny that she was going to be perfect for these types of roles. She's still pretty young but got the whole ajumma talk/walk down perfectly. I also loved how well her and Lee Jin Wook meshed. Finding out their age difference in real life had me a little shocked but I loved their chemistry and you didn't really see age as a factor here. Loved all the other side characters too. (Jinyoung and that face paint was just…)

Music | GREAT. No words can describe it. Raindrop and White Butterfly are amazing OSTs and Eun Kyung's voice is perfect for them both.

Rewatch | I'm not too sure at the moment. It was a fun movie but the romance it does lacks is what I usually crave in movies/dramas. I get it, some things just couldn't happen because of the whole plot. I 100% accepted that. I just love me some romance. Maybe in a few years I'll come back.

Overall | It was a great movie to watch. Pretty simple. Yes it had a lot of comedy but it had some serious moments that put a lot of things into perspective, which I liked. Not to mention the ending was seriously too perfect. If you have netflix or just need a random movie to watch, this is a must watch!

To be honest, I was a little skeptical about watching this. I didn't think the movie would be worth watching since this movie had a basic plot which you can already tell from the trailer. An old grandma turns back to her prime age and she experiences the life she never had. And it was exactly that. Except I was confused why this was under the genre music, so I gave it a try.
I LOVED IT. I also definitely loved how the grandma kept her speaking ways the same despite how contrasting her speaking ways of an agjussi to a 20-25 yr old. Is definitely a try of movie that is great for a family to watch except for the cussing of the grandma because that her character. It's great seeing the perspective of how miss granny views things as a grandma except through the body of a young girl.
The best part was the ending, probably the best way to end the movie. Its kind of like the ending to freaky Friday. YOU'LL UNDERSTAND IF YOU WATCH IT!!!

I hesitated a lot to watch this movie. I had only Shim Eun Kyung's "Running Man" appearance as a reference to her and I didn't like what I saw. There was also oorie gunnie, Kamz, who kept raving how great an actress she is, and I think I kind of wanted to say she wasn't. I, also, wanted to stare at Lee Jin Wook. So, I ended up watching it.

And omo! Why was this girl so hilarious?

"Miss Granny" doesn't have a unique concept and it doesn't give a lot of info on the cosmic mechanics of the change, but it still worked for me. I thoroughly enjoyed watching SEK acting like a halmoni in a younger female's body. She had the mannerisms of the character's older version down to the last "T", which made the change from old to young seem more seamless. This is definitely not easy to do and requires a lot of skill in acting.

I also enjoyed the rest of the cast. Sadly, Sung Dong Il and Lee Jin Wook don't have a lot of movie screen time. Somehow, this didn't bother me in the least, especially when they absolutely shone in the scenes they did have. I absolutely adored Hyun Chul's and Mal Soon's mother-son moment. The things they said to each other made tears fall from my eyes without me even noticing it. And Lee Jin Wook's last scene filled even me with longing and nostalgia.

This movie also has a great OST.

Miss Granny is funny, yet touching. It shows how far a true mother's love will go.

what a cute movie!
Browsing what to watch, I came across this movie, the synopsis didnt seem anything new, but it sounded like a fun movie, do I started watching and im glad I spent a fun couple of hours before going to bed.
The movie has everything, happy, sad funny and serious moments. There are times it really moves you to tears. Others you find really hilarious.
There is not much romance and quite a clean movie to watch with family, it mostly deals with family relationships and friendship.
The acting is really good and so is the music and songs.
Overall: a fun movie to watch with family. You will enjoy it if you are a romantic and a dreamer!

I’ve held back on watching this movie because I’ve heard so many good things about it and wanted to keep it for my viewing pleasure for longer.

In terms of story, it is quite a mixture of heartwarming and hilarity. You can never go wrong with the fish-out-of-water concept.

It is clear the movie is trying to send an explicit message to its audience to respect the elderly, not to look down on them, not to be ashamed of them, to be grateful for their contributions and sacrifices. While these are valid takeaway lessons, what I was hoping to get more of in the movie was for Granny to have an opportunity to look back on her regrets or mistakes. While the movie did raise some of these aspects, we didn’t really show Granny exploring or delving deeply into these regrets.

Shim Eun-kyung is already well-known as a great actress at her tender age. It’s amazing how she perfectly embodies an old soul inhabiting the body of a young woman. Sung Dong Il is as usual great. Lee Jin Wook is of course charming in his role as a young man taken by Shim Eun-kyung’s peculiar character. Jinyoung is okay.

Overall, it’s a good heartwarming watch.

Oh my, this movie...
So I was bored and found this cool-looking poster. Then I watched the trailer on youtube and thought it was hilarious, so I checked the movie out. It was amazing.

At first I didn't really like the story in the beginning but I started loving it about 20 minutes in. I didn't like it at first because it seemed to strange. And then it got deeper and more amazing as the movie went on. So by the end I loved it and I didn't want the movie to end.

I think the acting was good and the cast did a great job.

Music... I loved it. Well, you can tell that by the fact that I looked for a translation to one song for about half an hour. And I can't get the White Butterfly song out of my head. It's just so beautiful and emotional. And all the other OSTs were just great too.

So - overall, it's an amazing movie. Since I can't spoil it I'll just say this : by the end of this film I was crying and laughing at the same time. And Kim So Hyun's cameo was just... hilarious!
This movie is a must watch!

i watched this bcos of Shim Eun Kyung's award, thought if she won an award, her portrayal of the character must have been good. was not disappointed, SEK was brilliant in her performance and she delivered a charming young lady w remnants of her old self and i cld empathize with the character. some parts comical, some parts cliche, but a v enjoyable movie.

If you were given another chance, what would you do? Miss Granny is a movie which ponders this question in a hilarious and heartwarming way.

I had heard of this movie many times before deciding to watch it. Finally, I decided to read the synopsis and it made me want to see the movie immediately! The storyline in the movie has been done before, but includes a unique twist. It really reminds me of the movie '17 Again', but this time the lead is a old woman rather than a middle-aged father. At first, the movie seems like it will only be a comedy and nothing more, but I quickly realized I was wrong. There are many heartwarming and emotional scenes as well.

Wow! I loved the acting in this movie. First, the characters were all great. I really enjoyed Mal Soon, especially when she acted as Oh Doo Ri! I laughed so much! Mr.Park and Ji Ha were so cute and I really liked them too! Now, onto acting. There were a lot of great actors included in this film! I have not seen Shim Eun Kyung in anything else, but she did so well here! Absolutely hilarious! I was also super happy to see Kim Seul Gi in this movie, she is such a joy to watch! In addition, Jung Ji Young really did well. I have yet to watch anything with an idol who is a bad actor!

The music was really catchy! I did not expect all this great music at all! Shim Eun Kyung is a great singer and was super surprised! I honestly thought they made her lipsync or something, but when I checked out her bio and found out she could sing I was glad to know that really was her voice. I would for sure listen to this music outside of the film! In regards to rewatch value, I would definitely show this to someone or rewatch it myself!

Overall, 10/10! Awesome movie!

Snow days prevail and Miss Granny was the one of the best to bring a smile. This movie about the circle of life and the regrets accompany us along that path.

Story>> Granny story is not a new story. Its a realistic twist to a story done very well. Other age shifting stories are about youth, men, women, yet this is about a 70+ person reversing her age process whilst preparing for death and the impact it has on her family. The magic of the storyline is she never left being a granny in all her mannerisms, style, candor and wisdom which ends up being her most attractive characteristic. Enamoring her to many young & old in heart and soul.
Acting>> the cast & actors were so perfect portraying the aging & complex family dynamics. SDi was and remains one of my favorite actors with is accurate depiction of someone with depth and a fine sense of humor.
Music>> Was centerfold to the story of giving her a chance to live out a singing dream for once in her lifetime. Music was old school and extremely heartfelt (without any translation) Granny had some pipes!

Overall>> this story is solid family drama of common families coping to live under one roof while straddling the multi-generational dynamic and surviving. Granny will make you laugh, cry. smile and cause you to reflect on you & your family core strengths. Granny is must see for ALL ages & cultures...
