The four siblings in the Gung family were named after precious jewels: eldest daughter Bi Chwi (Jade), eldest son San Ho (Coral), second daughter Ryu Bi (Ruby), and the youngest son, Ho Bak (Amber). Like an assortment of beautiful gems, their colours may clash and their sharp edges chip away at each other. Using an analogy of a bowl of rice with assorted ingredients to illustrate the workings of a family, the key to a great dish is using the right balance of ingredients in order to create a good mixture. Assorted Gems tells the story of the different lives of the family members and how they learn from their clashes to find the perfect balance. Edit Translation

Reviews
Unlike many other dramas I've seen, the story did carry some sorta message, with the children realizing the plight of parents when they themselves become one. Well, on the other hand, Yeong Guk's parents were a delight to watch. I had serious doubts about an old lady acting like a kid, be she did it without being too annoying. The various romantic threads seem to fit well with the characters.
Don't seem to remember anything about the music though I watched it only yesterday, so that's a low out there.
One serious issue I had with the drama was the annoying pair of Ho Bak and Kkeut Soon. Oh well, even their names sounded pesky to me! So much in contrast with their siblings. At least that girl is a spoiled princess as expected, but the guy behaves like a retard even after coming from humble beginnings. Without them, I would've loved the drama enough to give it even a 9. Kill them off or maroon 'em off to some island in the pacific - and I'll contemplate rewatching this.

The Cast were ok no one spectacular and no one was dreadful it was pretty much all in one level, well maybe except for Tae Ja who was an absolute delight to watch even though he had absolutely no lines.
The Story line was pretty much average and typical although there weren't really any evil characters that I wanted to kill like in most family dramas and. The pace of the drama wasn't bad either there wasn't a particular issue that kept getting dragged on and on and on and they threw in a good amount of comedy in there to break the monotony, although there was one episode I found completely unnecessary and should have been left out but I digress. The part that really boils my bubble was the last 10-15 minutes of the final episode, I felt that it got hijacked by some moronic numbskull on steroids and I was left completely disappointed and stupefied by what i saw in the last 5 minutes and that's all i can say. So that is why this drama has such a low score with me, if it had they way I was expecting it to go it would definitely have gotten higher points so yeah that's three days of my life down the drain. ( shoot i could have watch at least two great dramas during that time). :/
