Ivy, a Taiwanese girl studying in California, becomes involved with charming Chiu Ching. He goes away for awhile, but sends telegrams of his love for her. Ivy fills in time with Louie, and ex-boyfriend with whom she is still friends, and a group of girlfriends she shares a student dormitory with. But the telegrams and messages dry up.
