Memories of Murder (2003)

Both are about serial killers and pursue criminal issues. In both of these films, secrets are revealed while investigating the murder case.

Both the movie and the drama are based on the same true events. So there could be a lot of similarities among them.

Director Quentin Tarantino named it, along with Bong's The Host, as one of his Top 20 favorite movies since 1992 This excellent movie (who ages really well like wine:) must have inspired this drama's author in a way It is even said that Signal is the Tv adaptation of Memories of Murder This film deals with the Gyeonggi serial rape and murder case that detectives invistigate on the first 4 episodes of Signal This movie has an amazing cast (Song Kang-HO is brilliant!) and cinematography The rest of the cast is keeping up brilliantly and the ending leaves you speechless The real life case, apparently and sadly the first serial killing case reported in Korea's history was never solved and reached a statue of limitation in 2006 unlike in Signal

I immediately thought of this when I read the description. You will not be disappointed with life on Mars.

In both films an innocent man is subjected to physical abuse during a police interrogation. Though there is evidence of his innocence, police continue to try and pin him for the crime.

Both are thriller movies by Bong Joon Ho that show violent detectives that are abusive during interrigation, feature a character with a disability (in Mother its the mc and in Memories of Murder a side character) who is accused of being the murderer of (a) girl(s). They leave you guessing till the end.

The series Tunnel was inspired by the unsolved Hwaseong serial murders just like the movie Memories of Murder.

There is an episode of Bad Guys dealing with serial murders in the rain that reminded me of the movie Memories of Murder where the female victims where all killed when it rains.

Both films are similar in a way where mentally disordered leads both takes a crucial part in solving the case.
