"12.12: The Day" Wins Two Awards at 17th Asian Film Awards

The blockbuster film 12.12: The Day was honored with two awards at the 17th Asian Film Awards (AFA).

At the 17th Asian Film Awards held in Hong Kong on the 10th (Sunday), 12.12: The Day proved its artistic merit by clinching two awards: Best Supporting Actor award and Best Editing award. 

12.12: The Day depicts the nine intense hours of the emergency to prevent the rebellion of the new military regime that occurred in Seoul on December 12, 1979.

Park Hoon, who portrayed Moon Il Pyeong, the chief secretary of Chun Doo Kwang (Hwang Jung Min), won the award for Best Supporting Actor. Park Hoon expressed his feelings upon receiving the award, saying, "Many of my seniors and colleagues said, 'We thought we were making a film, but we made art.' Those words carry a lot of meaning, and I got the film 12.12: The Day. If I hadn't got this work, I don't think I could have felt the weight of this trophy."

He continued, "For the making of 12.12: The Day, I dedicate all the honor of this award to director Kim Sung Soo, who dedicated himself to loving, debating, fighting, and living beautifully with the essence of filmmaking throughout the time spent with the movie."

Additionally, editing director Kim Sang Bum also embraced the honor of winning the Editing Award for the fifth time with 12.12: The Day.
