2 PM's Ok Taec Yeon is confirmed to join the upcoming Netflix original Japanese drama Soulmate.
On June 28, Ok Taec Yeon's agency 51K Entertainment revealed, "Ok Taec Yeon has confirmed his appearance in the upcoming Japanese Netflix drama Soulmate which is currently in production. The series will premiere sometime next year."
The upcoming Japanese series will tell the romance and journey of two men who traveled to different countries to learn more about life and become each others' comfort for 10 years.
Ok Taec Yeon will work alongside Japanese actor Isomura Hayato who will portray the role of Ryu. He abandoned everything and left Japan. Ok Taec Yeon on the other hand will portray the role of Johan, a Korean boxer who who hasn't faced his emotional wounds for a long time. Johan accidentally saves Ryu's life while in a church in a foreign country.
The 2 PM shared his thoughts on starring in the Japanese film, "I am grateful to be starring in the drama Soulmate. There are a lot of genres and characters that I haven't tried yet and I wanted to expand my spectrum and that's when I received the offer to star in Soulmate. While reading the script, I got more curious about the character Johan. I'm working hard to showcase the character sincerely and I am hoping that the viewers will anticipate this upcoming series."
Soulmate will premiere on Netflix in 2025.
This will be Ok Taec Yeon's comeback to Japanese dramas after several years. This will also be his first time starring in a Netflix original series.
Before Ok Taec Yeon challenges Soulmate, the idol actor will first lead the upcoming K-drama Taereung Zombie Village. He will work with director Kim Min Ho who also created the film Unstoppable.
Ok Taec Yeon is known for being part of the K-dramas Heartbeat, Blind, Secret Royal Inspector & Joy, Vincenzo, Save Me, Bring It On, Ghost, Dream High, Cinderella's Sister, and more.
