KBS 2TV's upcoming historical K-drama The Matchmakers tells the story of an upper-class bachelor and a widow who team up to pair spinsters and bachelors.
Shim Jung Woo, played by Rowoon, is the king's son-in-law who finds himself blocked from the prospects of being of service to the government and marriage because he is a widower. Elaborating on the reason for filing an appeal to annul his marriage for the eighth year, he explains, "The reason I'm filing for an annulment of the marriage with the princess is due to the fact that I cannot government is the greatest waste of resources in Joseon", boasting his self-esteem.
The teaser shows Shim Jung Woo in the traditional wedding attire and Jung Soon Deok says, "If you entered the wedding hall with the princess, you cannot take that back". Jung Soon Deok's (Cho Yi Hyun) words resound in response, and suddenly, the teaser shows a scene in which the princess faints during the wedding, leading to a crisis. Sim Jung Woo, in anger, firmly states, "I will never be a son-in-law of the king who cannot enter the government!". Jung Soon Deok, now the top matchmaker, provocatively questions, "Isn't it rude for a man to insist on the annulment of the marriage?". Her blunt words stir Sim Jung Woo's anger.
When Jung Soon Deok's hand touches Shim Jung Woo, he becomes so bewildered that he causes a big fuss. Jung Soon Deok provocatively says, "Did you fall in love by any chance?" and, in response, Shim Jung Woo mocks at the absurd question, "I fell in...!" without finishing his sentence due to hiccups.
