Following D.P.'s success in 2021, director Han Jun Hee returns with season 2 of the series, continuing the unfinished tale of the Deserter Pursuit team.
D.P. Season 2 revolves around the Deserter Pursuit team (D.P.), consisting of Ahn Joon Ho (Jung Hae In) and Han Ho Yul (Koo Kyo Hwan), who search and bring back the soldiers who have run away from the military.
As the creative director of Weak Hero Class 1, a series that delves into the growth of three youths, Han Jun Hee expanded his creative scope, receiving widespread acclaim across multiple fronts.
By realistically depicting the injustice endured in the military, D.P. won the hearts of both domestic and global audiences, and firmly established Han Jun Hee as the leading director of the next generation.
By infusing the noir genre with a message-driven plot about societal injustices, he struck a chord with audiences and earned their empathy.
After the release of D.P. season 1, Han Jun Hee contemplated the reasons behind why this story needed further development and what needed to be shown. He explained that if season 1 concluded with characters questioning, "Did I simply stand by?" or "Shouldn't I try something?", season 2 takes a more introspective approach, focusing on characters who ponder and strive to make a difference, hinting that the upcoming series will push the boundaries even further.
Moreover, while retaining the elements that captivated global viewers in season 1, Han Jun Hee revealed that season 2 incorporates distinct genres in each episode, and will feature new characters from the military headquarters.
D.P. Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on July 28th.
