Director Kim Yong Hwa, renowned for the blockbuster success of the Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds series, is coming to captivate audiences once again with his upcoming sci-fi film The Moon.
The film tells the story of space officer Hwang Seon Woo, who is stranded alone on the moon after encountering an accident during South Korea's first manned lunar exploration mission. Striving to rescue him is former space center director Kim Jae Guk.
Idol and actor Doh Kyung Soo plays Hwang Seon Woo - a space crew member alone in space over 384,000 km away, while Sol Kyung Gu plays Kim Jae Guk. Kim Hee Ae is also cast in the movie as Moon Young Eun, the director of the NASA space station.
With its release scheduled for August, The Moon has recently unveiled four gripping teaser posters and an enticing trailer on June 14.
Each poster showcases the character's desperation as they race against time to prevent catastrophe. The first poster portrays Hwang Seon Woo, the valiant Korean astronaut, stranded 384,000 kilometers away from Earth and desperately reaching out for help while being bombarded by perilous meteor showers.
Meanwhile, Kim Jae Guk, the former director in charge of Korea's lunar exploration, seeks aid from Moon Young Eun (Kim Hee Ae), the director of NASA, in his attempt to save Seon Woo.
However, whether his plea for help will be heeded remains uncertain. Through these teaser posters, the film manages to convey the isolation endured by Seon Woo on the desolate moon, as well as the daunting challenges faced by Jae Guk and Moon Young.
Accompanying the teaser posters and the recently-unveiled trailer gives a glimpse into the perilous and breathtaking journey of the Korean lunar exploration spacecraft, venturing into uncharted territory. The happiness of setting foot on the moon quickly gives way to pulse-pounding tension as Seon Woo navigates the lunar landscape in a race against time, evading relentless meteor showers from every direction. The trailer intensifies the suspense as Jae Guk, Moon Young, and the dedicated team at the space center anxiously watch over Sun Woo.
The trailer concludes with the caption, "The Korean astronaut stranded on the moon", followed by Seon Woo's cry for help, "Mayday", piquing curiosity about the captivating story of the isolated space explorer on the dark side of the celestial body.
