Chief Detective 1958 drops Lee Je Hoon's stills.

Set in an era of chaos, Chief Detective 1958 tells the story of Detective Park Young Han, who, unable to see human dignity being trampled upon, joins forces with three colleagues to shatter the corrupt authority.

Chief Detective 1958 is a prequel to Chief Inspector. The K-drama takes place in 1958 when Detective Park Young Han was appointed to Seoul.

Taxi Driver actor Lee Jae Hoon portrays Park Young Han, a countryside detective who is quick-witted, good-natured, and amiable.  The character stills depict the transformation of a young detective from Hwangcheon to the "Star Detective" of Jongnam Police Station in Seoul.

As he leaves the Hwangcheon branch carrying a large luggage, Park Young Han's eyes betray his passion and ambition.

Lee Jae Hoon described his reasons for choosing Chief Detective 1958: "I was most intrigued and excited about the [drama being a] prequel to Chief Inspector." He continued, "It was an honor to be part of a story that was so loved by the entire nation that it was broadcast for 18 years."

Describing his character, he said, "Park Young Han is very pure, and his passion and tenacity to catch criminals are such that no one can match him. He is a young man with a burning passion."

He further expressed his affection for the character, stating, "Like the people involved in the incident and their families, he is heartbroken more than anyone else and strives to catch the criminal while comforting and caring for the victims. To some, he may seem simple-minded and reckless, but I found it admirable and honorable how he doesn't hesitate to put himself at risk."

Lee Jae Hoon also said, "I also got the thought, 'If there were more detectives like him in real life, I could live with fewer worries,'" and added, "The very existence of police themselves  would provide comfort and strength."

Chief Detective 1958 will premiere on April 19. The K-drama will be available to stream on Disney+. Watch the latest teasers here and here
