Welcome to Samdalri released the first set of still cuts of Ji Chang Wook, who plays Cho Yong Pil, a weather forecaster on Jeju island.

Welcome to Samdalri tells the story of Cho Yong Pil (Ji Chang Wook), a weather forecaster from the small town of Samdalri on Jeju island, and Cho Sam Dal (Shin Hye Sun), an ambitious woman from the same town returning years after she left for Seoul.

Cho Yong Pil, a forecaster at the Meteorological Department in Mado, lost his mother — a haenyeo (a female diver who harvests sea life) — due to a flawed weather report. Yong Pil then decides to become a weather forecaster to protect the people of his town.

No one knows the weather in Mado better than Yong Pil. As a native of Samdalri, he has gained a wealth of experience by traveling around the region.

In the still cut, he is seen focusing intently on the monitor, and he is also known for his relentless dedication to reporting accurate weather forecasts. Because of this, he is known as a freak in the meteorological department, whom even the headquarters cannot control.

During the daily video conference meetings, he always holds onto the microphone, questions the weather forecasts provided by the headquarters, and even engages in heated arguments with the chief to get what he wants, which often leads the main office to disconnect video calls.

The reason he puts so much effort into making accurate weather forecasts is that there are people in Samdalri, like the "Haenyeo Samchundeul" (female divers in Jeju who harvest sea life) led by Go Mi Ja (Kim Mi Kyung), who have been in the business for over 40 years. So, for the people of Samdalri, he strives to ensure the accuracy of the forecast every day.

Welcome to Samdalri will premiere on December 2, taking over the time slot of Strong Girl Namsoon. The K-drama will be made available on Netflix.
