After the enormous success of Taxi Driver Season 2, the production for season 3 of the series has officially been confirmed. The second season of the K-drama concluded with double-digit ratings of 21.0%, the highest it has ever achieved. And not to forget, the show has also been a hit on Asia's largest OTT platform Viu.
Considering the drama's craze and the love it received from both domestic and international audiences, season 3 of the series has been confirmed to be produced. And with regards to it, the K-drama's main lead Lee Je Hoon (who plays the taxi driver Kim Do Gi) has passed his comments in an interview with domestic reporters held at a cafe in Gangnam, Seoul on April 17.
During the interview, Lee Je Hoon shared his thoughts on season 3 and said, "The production team has confirmed season 3, but there has been no specific discussion with the actors, writers, and directors". He added, "I am very happy that it can be made. I don't know if I'll return because they can get a new taxi driver. Nothing specific has been said so far".
He added, "Personally, I really want to do it, but I haven’t heard anything specific. I want to be with all the members of the Rainbow Taxi family, but we each have our own busy schedules, so I think we need to reach an agreement. If I were to create a story without them, I would be against it".
The actor also said that all the cast members have high anticipations for season 3, but an official offer hasn't been made yet. At this moment, it is difficult to make any confirmations considering it is difficult to bring the cast back together amidst their busy schedules.
When asked about what the audience can expect from him if he is cast in season 3, he said, "I haven’t thought specifically about what I want to do in season 3. My idea is to continue with the format and method I have so far maintained. There were many opinions that the composition and background of season 1 should be renewed in season 2. But the background of Rainbow Taxi had to be the same as in season 1, and the signature music and retro atmosphere from the model taxi were also retained. It was my idea that I should inherit it, and I am grateful to everyone who agreed to it. The goal was to meet the expectations of viewers in season 1 and to make new variations and upgrades, but I haven't specifically thought about how season 3 should go".
