Escape has unveiled character stills of Lee Je Hoon, who plays the North Korean soldier Kyu Nam in the upcoming K-movie.
Escape follows Sergeant Lim Kyu Nam (Lee Je Hoon), planning to escape to the South, and State Security Department Major Ri Hyeon Sang (Koo Kyo Hwan) trying to stop him.
Lee Je Hoon (Chief Detective 1958, Move to Heaven, Taxi Driver, Signal) comes to play Kyu Nam, a sergeant about to be discharged after working 10 years at a frontline unit near the Military Demarcation Line (MDL). Not fearing failure, he dreams of escaping to a place where he can pursue his desires, free from a harsh reality where he cannot shape his future.
To convey Kyu Nam's desperation and struggle for his dream, Lee Je Hoon not only lost weight but also committed himself to intense running and tough shoots through rough thickets and muddy swamps with passion.
Lee Je Hoon said, "Kyu Nam is one of those ordinary people who want to escape from their reality and pursue the ideals of tomorrow, dreams, and hope. I believe that Kyu Nam's desire for a better tomorrow and his efforts to realize it will resonate with many people."
