Lee Joon Gi, Shin Se Kyung, and Jang Dong Gun will reportedly lead the upcoming drama "Arthdal Chronicles: Season 2."
On April 20th media outlets shared that Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung will be replacing Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won in the second season of "Arthdal Chronicles." It was also revealed that actor Jang Dong Gun will return to the new season with the same character.
Lee Joong Gi's agency Namoo Actors responded to the reports. The agency stated that the drama is one of the projects offered to the actor and he is still reviewing it. Same with Shin Se Kyung, her new agency EDAM Entertainment also shared their side and revealed that she is still reviewing the offer and nothing has been confirmed yet.
Meanwhile, according to reports, Jang Dong Gun will continue to appear as Ta Gon. Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won on the other hand will step down from the drama.
The producer of the drama Studio Dragon also confirmed the reports that Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung are offered to replace Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won in the drama.
If Lee Joon Gi decided to star in the second season, he will portray the role of Eun Som, a member of the Wahan tribe. Shin Se Kyung on the other hand will play the character named Tan Ya, the successor to the Wahan clan. There is no confirmation yet if other characters will also return to the new season.
"Arthdal Chronicles: Season 2" will revolve around the happening in Arth after more than a decade.
For the second season, it will be directed by Kim Kwang Shik ("The Great Battle "). The script will still be written by the original writers Kim Young Hyun and Park Sang Yeon.
"Arthdal Chronicles Season 2" will reportedly air in 2023.
If Lee Joon Gi confirms his appearance, this will be his first project for 2023. Currently, the actor is starring in the ongoing series "Again My Life" with Lee Kyung Young, Kim Ji Eun, Jung Sang Hoon, Choi Kwang Il, and Hong Bi Ra.
Meanwhile, if Shin Se Kyung confirms her casting, this will be her comeback to the drama scene after three years. She last starred in the 2020 drama "Run On" with ZE: A's Im Si Wan, Girls Generation's Choi Soo Young, and Kang Tae Oh.
