The upcoming novel-based romance K-drama Motel California is confirmed to premiere next month!

On December 5, MBC released the first teaser poster of the upcoming K-drama  Motel California starring  Lee Se Young and Na In Woo. Through the poster, it was also officially confirmed that the first episode of the series will air on January 10.

Motel California will tell the story of a woman who returns to her hometown after 12 years and reconnects with her first love. Raised in a motel called Motel California in a rural area, Ji Gang Hui was a constant subject of gossip due to her family's circumstances. She then decided to move to Seoul after growing up. After twelve years, she returns to her hometown and rekindles a past romance. The upcoming K-drama will take its story from Shim Yoon Seo's 2019 novel Home, Bitter Home.

The upcoming K-drama will be the collaboration work of director Jang Joon Ho (Time and Hotel King) and writer Lee Seo Yoon (365: Repeat the Year and Swallow the Sun).

Aside from Lee Se Young and Na In Woo, actors Choi Min Soo, Kim Tae Hyeong, Choi Hee Jin, and Woo Mi Hwa will also join the K-drama.

The production team of the K-drama shared, "Motel California is confirmed to premiere on January 10 next year. The perfect chemistry between Lee Se Young and Na In Woo will fill the excitement at the beginning of the year. Please look forward to the K-drama that will focus on the reunion and rekindling of their first love."

Motel California's first episode will premiere on January 10, at 9:50 PM KST. It will exclusively air on MBC.

In the K-drama, Lee Se Young will portray the role of Ji Gang Hui. She is an interior designer who has lived a difficult life because she grew up in a motel and she is also a mixed race. Na In Woo on the other hand will portray the role of Cheon Yeon Su, who currently works as a veterinarian in their village. After 12 years, the two will reunite.

An old-style signage of Motel California sparks intrigue in the first teaser photo for the K-drama. This is the birthplace of Ji Gang Hui, a woman who left her hometown for Seoul two decades ago. As viewers delve into the story, they'll uncover the happenings surrounding the motel and the lives of the people around it.

A snowball figurine featuring Ji Gang Hui and Cheon Yeon Su hints at the nostalgic and heartwarming memories they share.
