The action thriller The Roundup: No Way Out is dominating the box office in South Korea and secured the top spot on its opening weekend.According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network, The Roundup: No Way Out (directed by Lee Sang Yong) attracted a massive audience of 2,817,291 moviegoers from June 2 -June 4, bagging the number one spot at the box office. The cumulative number of cinemagoers the movie has garnered is 4,512,386.
On June 3, The Roundup: No Way Out drew in 1,162,576 moviegoers, and on June 4, it continued to succeed with an additional 1,072,231 viewers. Not only did it surpass the milestone of drawing in one million viewers a day, but it also broke the record of its previous installment, The Roundup, which attracted 3,556,570 moviegoers in its opening week.
The Roundup: No Way Out depicts the thrilling crime-busting operation of the monster detective Ma Suk Do (Ma Dong Seok), who moves to Seoul's Gwangsu Avenue to capture the mastermind behind a new drug crime case. The movie features Joo Sung Cheol (Lee Joon Hyuk) and Ricky (Aoki Munetaka) as criminals who will meet their match in the monster detective.
