Netflix has confirmed the production of the second season of The Devil's Plan.
The Devil's Plan is a survival variety show where 12 players from various professions, including lawyers, doctors, science Youtubers, professional gamers, and actors, come together to stay together for seven days. Their mission: To outsmart each other and prove they have the sharpest minds.
Since its release, The Devil's Plan not only topped Netflix's Top 10 list in South Korea but also claimed the top spot in the TV-OTT integrated popularity rankings in the variety show category (Good Data Corporation).
It made its mark not only on domestic viewers but on international audiences as well. It earned a spot in the Top 10 lists in 23 countries and ranked third on Netflix's Global Top 10 shows (non-English) list in its first week of release, creating quite a buzz.
Jung Jong Yeon-directed show The Devil's Plan incorporates an intriguing storyline that comes about when players, with their unique strategies and personalities, oscillate between alliances and betrayals — the highlight of The Devil's Plan — to win a tempting prize of 500 million Korean won.
The show depicted the dynamics and relationship changes among the players living together as a community, with communication cut off from the outside world.
As the title hints, the show is a kind of social experiment initiated by the devil's invitation. The games of The Devil's Plan compel performers to reveal their true identities, different from what they show the world.
As a result, the curiosity for Season 2 is heightening as viewers wonder who the new participants will be, what creative brain games will be presented, and who will claim the title of the ultimate champion in the fierce competition.
Director Jung Jong Yeon expressed his joy over the confirmation of Season 2 and said, "We will prepare a completely new look," raising expectations for Season 2.
