Girls Generation's Seohyun is in discussion to join the upcoming "Thief: The Sound of the Sword."
On January 27th several media outlets reported that Seo Hyun will be the female lead of the upcoming action thriller drama "Thief: The Sound of the Sword." Kim Nam Gil has been picked as the male lead.
Seohyun's agency Namoo Actors responded to the reports and confirmed that the idol-actress has received the proposal to star in the upcoming drama. They also reiterated that there's no decision yet and Seo Hyun is still reviewing the offer.
"Thief: The Sound of the Sword" is an action thriller drama set in the 1920s during the Japanese colonial period. It will tell the stories of people who lost their homes and how they would do anything for their families and colleagues. The upcoming Netflix series will reportedly have a 30 billion won (approximately $25 million US dollars) budget.
Other reported cast members of the upcoming drama are Lee Ho Jung, Yoo Jae Myung, Lee Hyun Wook, and Lee Yoo Young.
“Thief: Sound of the Sword” will begin filming this year after finalizing pre-production details.
If Seohyun accepts the casting offer, this will be her first-ever Netflix original drama. The idol-actress is set to debut in Netflix films this coming February 11 with the movie "Love and Leashes" together with UKISS' Lee Jun Young.
Seo Hyun will also join the upcoming dramas "The Jinx's Lover" with rising actor Na In Woo. She will also star in the movie "Holy Night: Demon Hunters" with Ma Dong Seok, Lee David, Kyung Soo Jin, and Jeong Ji So.
The Girls Generation member last starred in the 2020 JTBC drama "Private Lives" that was also available on Netflix.
Seohyun is currently active as an actress. She left SM Entertainment in 2017 and began focusing on her acting career.
