Shin Sung Rok will make his return to the small screen!
On October 29th reports circulated that Shin Sung Rok has picked his next drama project and it will be the upcoming MBC drama "Doctor Lawyer." His agency Sangyeong ENT confirmed the reports and stated that the actor will be part of the drama.
"Doctor Lawyer" will be helmed by Lee Yong Seok ("Haechi" and "Iljimae".) The script will be penned by "Class of Lies" writer, Jang Hong Chul. So Ji Sub is confirmed to star in the drama while Im Soo Hyang is still in discussion to be the female lead. The drama is expected to premiere in the first half of 2022.
The upcoming drama will revolve around a genius surgeon and a prosecutor. The surgeon lost everything in a fabricated operation and shifted his profession to become a medical litigation lawyer. Meanwhile, the prosecutor is the one who lost his only family through that surgery. Together, they will punish the people who only rank people's lives through their wealth and power and are unfair to their victims.
So Ji Sub will be playing as Han Yi Han, the surgeon who became a lawyer specializing in medical litigation. Shin Sung Rok on the other hand will play the role of Jayden Lee. He is the Asian branch manager of Honors Hand, a company specializing in lobbying and investment. Im Soo Hyang is also in talks to join the drama and her possible character is not revealed yet.
"Doctor Lawyer" will exclusively air in MBC with 16 episodes.
This drama will be Shin Sung Rok's comeback to dramas after two years. He last starred in the 2020 drama "Kairos" with Lee Se Young, Ahn Bo Hyun, Nam Gyu Ri, Winner's Kang Seung Yoon, and more. He also hosted the competition program "Double Casting" in the same year.
Shin Sung Rok is known for starring in dramas such as "Vagabond," "The Last Empress," "Return," "On The Way To The Airport," "Liar Game," "My Love from the Star," and more.
Meanwhile, the actor is currently busy with his musical "Jekyll and Hyde."
