Upcoming iHQ original drama "Sponsor" will officially air this February.
On January 12th, it was announced that the drama starring Lee Ji Hoon and Han Chae Young will premiere its first episode on February 23. The drama will be included in the Wednesday-Thursday timeslot. "Sponsor" can be viewed through iHQ and broadcast channel MBN. It will be the first drama on channel iHQ.
"Sponsor" will be the latest collaboration of "It's My Life" director Kwak Gi Won and writer Park Gye Hyung. It will tell the story of four men and women who has different goals to achieve such as success, revenge, children, and love.
Lee Ji Hoon will play the role of Lee Seon Woo, a photographer, and editor of a magazine company. He looks like a warm person but deep inside, he is seeking revenge. Han Chae Young will play the role of Han Chae Rin, the CEO of a cosmetic company who is still ambitious even though she's already successful.
Other cast members of the drama are Ji Yi Soo, Koo Ja Sung, Kim Yun Seo, Park Geun Hyung, Kim Jeong Tae, and Lee Yoon Mi.
"Sponsor" will have 12 episodes and the first episode will air on February 23, Wednesday at 11:00 PM KST. The drama will be produced by Victory Contents (“What Happened in Bali” and “River Where the Moon Rises”) and iHQ.
"Sponsor" was supposed to premiere on November 29, 2021, but three days before its premiere, iHQ announced that the airing of the drama will be delayed and will be scheduled in February 2022 instead.
Even before the drama aired, main lead Lee Ji Hoon already got into the "power tripping" controversy. The actor personally denied the issue and apologized. The production also gave their statement and clarified the issue.
