On November 28, MBC announced that the trending K-drama When the Phone Rings will be canceled on December 14 and 20th. On December 14, instead of a new episode of the K-drama, a documentary of Han Kang, the first Korean writer to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, will be broadcast. On the 20th, MBC will release a recap of episodes 1-7 of the series.
The K-drama premiered on November 22 and 23. With just two episodes, When the Phone Rings already become the talk of the town. It also ranked high on Netflix worldwide.
When the Phone Rings tells the story of a couple of three years who got together through an arranged marriage. They are pretending to be normal and happy to the public, but their lives change after the wife is suddenly abducted by a mysterious person. The K-drama based its story on the popular web novel of the same name published on Kakao Page.
Yoo Yeon Seok, Chae Soo Bin, Heo Nam Jun, Jang Gyu Ri, Jin Kyung, and Han Jae Yi are the main leads of the series.
Yoo Yeon Seok is playing the role of Baek Sa Eon. He is the youngest presidential spokesperson in South Korea. He also came from a family of politicians. Aside from being the youngest spokesperson, he is also known for being a war correspondent, hostage negotiator, and main announcer.
Chae Soo Bin on the other hand portrays the role of Hong Hui Ju, the wife of Baek Sa Eon. She is the second daughter of the top news company. She is suffering from mutism due to an incident when she was a child. She is currently working as a sign language interpreter.
The third episode of When the Phone Rings will premiere on November 29 at 9: 50 PM KST. The K-drama will premiere both on MBC and Netflix.
