The highly-anticipated Coupang Play series Once Upon a Boyhood, which has been generating buzz due to the collaboration of Yim Si Wan and the Backstreet Rookie director Lee Myung Woo, has officially confirmed its release date for November 24 and has unveiled its first teaser poster.
Once Upon a Boyhood is set in the 1980s against the backdrop of Onyang, Chungcheong Province, and tells the story of Jang Byung Tae, a pushover who unexpectedly becomes a boss overnight.
The first teaser poster captivates viewers by showing Yim Si Wan standing confidently on a rice field ridge, his eyes filled with determination. With a radish in one hand and a shovel held high in the other, the poster beautifully encapsulates a juxtaposition of strength and vulnerability.
Yim Si Wan is widely recognized for his performance in the Netflix original thriller Unlocked, the sports drama film Boston 1947, and the 2013 mystery drama film The Attorney (which attracted more than ten million moviegoers at the domestic box office).
Yim Si Wan is also famous for his performances in K-dramas such as Misaeng: Incomplete Life and Run On.
Starring alongside him are up-and-coming actors, including Lee Sun Bin, Kang Hye Won, Lee Shi Woo, Kim Yun Bae, and Kim Jung Jin, among others, each bringing their unique charm.
Directed by Lee Myung Woo, known for helming domestic hits such as The Fiery Priest and Backstreet Rookie, the upcoming Coupang Play series Once Upon a Boyhood promises to bring an extraordinary thrill-filled story about Jang Byung Tae's struggle as he transforms from a pushover into a boss overnight.
Since Once Upon a Boyhood is set in the 1980s, it aims to exude a retro vibe and evoke nostalgia for late-20th-century Korea.
