Once Upon a Boyhood, featuring Yim Si Wan, Lee Sun Bin, Kang Hye Won, Lee Shi Woo, and Kim Yun Bae, drops a teaser.
Once Upon a Boyhood is set in the 1980s in Onyang, Chungcheong Province, and tells the story of Jang Byung Tae, a pushover who unexpectedly becomes a boss overnight.
The teaser begins with Jang Byung Tae saying, "A boy must have a dream. My dream is to live without getting hit." Byung Tae is shown being bullied by his schoolmates.
The teaser then shows Byung Tae shifting to a new home and worrying about starting all over again at his new school.
Word spreads that the legendary thug Asan White Tiger is transferring to Buyeo Agricultural High School.
The boys from his new school — well aware of rumors surrounding Asan White Tiger — corner Byung Tae, mistaking him for the legendary thug. As one of the boys gives him a pat on the shoulder, Byung Tae, fearing that he's going to hit him, raises his hand to protect himself. The boy stands impressed by Byung Tae's reflexes.
The ending scenes show Byung Tae gathering up boys and leading them for a face-off, like a leader.
Reflecting on his decision to be cast in Once Upon a Boyhood, Yim Si Wan commented, "The series of unintentional coincidences made me laugh and won my heart."
As the story is set in the 1980s in Buyeo, Chungcheong Province, Yim Si Wan dedicated three months to learning the Chungcheong dialect before filming and even underwent training from the dancer Hyo Jin Choi to familiarize himself with the dance moves that were popular at that time in preparation for his character.
Director Lee Myung Woo, describing Yim Si Wan as an actor who is currently on the rise, said, "As soon as I saw him, I was impressed, and thought, 'There really was a character like him in the old days.'"
Once Upon a Boyhood will premiere on November 24. Watch the teaser below.
