The Apple TV+ original series Pachinko has been honored at the Peabody Awards, announced on May 10.

The Peabody Awards are prestigious broadcasting awards in the United States presented by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the University of Georgia Board of Trustees. It recognizes the most compelling works in media across 35 categories.

The Peabody Awards praised the original novel by Lee Min Jin, stating, "When Lee Min Jin's book Pachinko was first published in 2017, its cover became instantly recognizable everywhere. Kim Sun Ja's life and family history, which encompasses the colonialism and immigration of Japan, Korea, and the United States, captivated readers with its complex narrative about existence and belonging."

Furthermore, they highlighted the adaptation of the novel, stating, "The TV series Pachinko elegantly traces the intergenerational story that began in 1920s Korea under Japanese occupation, evolving into a magnificent period drama that fractures the melodramatic plot. 'Pachinko' depicts a vast family saga spanning decades, providing culturally specific storytelling while transcending borders to present a global and progressive vision to viewers."

Pachinko tells a story that begins with forbidden love, traversing Korea, Japan, and the United States, depicting an unforgettable chronicle of war and peace, love and separation, victory and judgment. The drama stars Yoon Yuh Jung, Lee Min Ho, Kim Min Ha, and more.
