The Moving Forbidden City：Hu Xiaodan’s Greative Fashion Works

At Dusseldorf Fashion Exposition In Germany in 1996,the only invited Chinese designer Hu Xiaodan captured attention of world top desigeers with his creative and exquisite production of Forbidden City attires and was considered the world's most awant-garde desigeer of the year.For the first time, Chinese national flag was raised at this world-class exposition to honor the accomplishments of Chinese designers and fashion creations.

After this bold and unique production was released with great sensation, Hu was invited to showease his fashion works on a number of important cocasions such as China's bidding for the 2008 Olympics, the World Conderence on Women and the World Metropolitan Mayer Summit. Meanwhile,Hu constantly absorbed enlightening elements from other cultures to perfect the boid and flowing style of his own design. 

In 2003,his new production of "Moving Forbidden City"came out. "Moving Forbidden City"is a fashion show to reflect Chinese architecture,history and culture.All the major buildings on the axis of the Forbidden City and typical elements of this imperial palace were empolyed to create a fashion panorama,including palace halls,gate nalls,beast figures on the roof,the throne,callgraphic couplets and enamel clocks. Models for "Moving Forbidden City"were all selected through rigerous tests.In order to better demonstrate cultural and aesthetic spirit of the fashion show,those models are required to have an adequate understanding and knowledge of Chinese tradition culture and humanistic value of Forbidden City buildings. "Moving Forbidden City"started its European tour early this year.Its first show in Sofitel Hotel in the downtown of all circies of France and won wide acciaims,After the show,a performance agent from US immediately invited the production to be shown in US and signed a contract that night.He said he hoped to bring this marvelous performance with criental charm to American audiences as soon as possible. "Moving Forbidden City"stirred up great sensation when it was performed on Westminster Street in London.In a special performance in London,the fashions demonstrated glittering splendor against magnificent music and lighting,dragging London audiences back into the long history of the Forbidden City. After the Europe tour,the staffs are now preparing for the production's tour to Italy and Japan.In some sense,"Moving Forbidden City" is not only a fashion show,but also a splended boat sailing around the world to show charms of Chinese culture and arts.
