Who is the watchman?

It's hard.

1. It is an organisation
2. No one knows the assignment of each Watchman, more likely on the Queen Mother knows
3. The monk said that each Watchman is always close to their master, or assigned to protect
4. And by the name itself and how even within the organisation no one knows who is assigned to who, their job is primarily to “watch” and they only intervene if the person they're protecting is in danger. After that, they pull back into the shadows again.

It can not be the three scholars either:

1. 1ML has been revealed as the kid and true heir
2. Mr. Happy-Go-Lucky Scholar was called as “your majesty” by a mysterious old man
   1. He was also saved by the Vice Minister, so it means he knows who he is
3. Mr. Rich Scholar has been established to be from Royalty. If the Vice Minister is to be believed, Mr. Rich Scholar is probably a son from a mother outside of the Palace.

Somehow, those three scholars are related to each other. They are either brothers, or half-brothers. And the late king knew of an assassination plot so he hid them before D-day.

The Watchmen organisation is probably the king's idea, too, which was passed down to the Queen Mother after he was killed by his own, insane, brother.

Also, the Watchman Mr. Scar is looking for was the Watchman from 10+ years ago. If that Watchman is still alive, he should have aged.

1. The 1ML is definitely not the Watchman. Though he's wearing the clothes of Watchmen, probably inspired by the Watchman who saved him.
2. The mysterious Watchman who appeared at the Monk Temple, has skills superior to the Watchman Mr. Scar has been looking for. Even him recognised it.
   1. They want us to think that this mysterious new Watchman is Mr. Rich Scholar.
   2. If so, then it means he knows who the real heir is. HOWEVER, he doesn't act like one. He even agreed to become the fake heir.
   3. He has been in the Inn weeks, possibly months, BEFORE the real heir arrived in Hanyang. Remember, a Watchman always stay very near to their assignment.
   4. If so, then Mr. Rich Scholar can not be that highly skilled Watchman who randomly showed up.

Other things of note:

1. If those three Scholars are indeed brothers, or possibly even cousins, bottomline they are the continuation of the Royal Family and are in line in succession, then each of them have an assigned Watchman.
2. During the 1ML's trials, there was a guy who helped him. Later, he also showed up as a guard.
   1. I'm suspecting that he is the other Watchman assigned to 1ML.
   2. He was not the original Watchman from 10+ years ago, but just another Watchman to handle things from inside the Royal Palace.
3. The Queen Mother have been getting updates about the true heir from the Watchmen.
   1. However, it is weird that she doesn't know what the 1ML is planning. She was surprised when the ex-Eunuch said the true heir will return to the Palace soon.
4. It would seem that the Eunuch knows far more than the Queen Mother. And the way the Eunuch is playing all sides, he seems to be directing certain events to a desired outcome.
   1. He chooses which information he would reveal to whom.
   2. He reognised the three scholars the first time they saw each other, but did not say anything.
   3. The true heir also recognised the Eunuch, when he confronted the Eunuch to leave Hanyang.
   4. But, he doesn't seem to have any idea how the Watchmen organisation works.
   5. Is he still loyal to the former king? Maybe he was entrusted with a grand plan to ensure at least one of the true heirs will take the throne back?

And… we come back to… who is the Watcher assigned to the 1ML?

If we are going to look for Mr. Scar's Watcherman, then he should have aged 10+ years since that incident. That Watcherman is probably more or less in his 30s, if we are going to assume that the 1ML is now in his 20s.

Or, maybe their age gap is 7 years only, even so, 10+ years passed. If the 1ML is 23 in the present, then the Watcherman would be 30 by now. But there is no one around the 1ML who looks 30. And no one around the ML was established to have been following him.

For example, Mr. Rich Scholar have been in the Inn for a long time. And Mr. Happy-Go-Lucky have been roaming the streets of Hanyang for quite some time as well.

I think, as of episode 9… the Watchman Mr. Scar is looking for, and any other Watchmen assigned to the 1ML, are practically unknown. As the monk said, a Watchman is always very close to their assigned person. If that person is traveling, then the Watchman would be traveling with them without his knowledge. Not ahead or behind.

But no one in the currently revealed characters are like that. They were all in Hanyang long before the 1ML arrived.

Thats the question that pops in everyone's head who was the deposed crown prince and the watchman

• According to the unveiling of the episodeof the drama all suspected kang san to be the the true heir
• But then shi yeol is reffered to as the your highness and later in the episodes he is being kidnapped to be a suspect to be the deposed crown prince and is saved by kang san 
• so leading to the change of the plot for viewers between who is watchman and who is the deposed crown prince
• then later in the episodes yoon ha is asked by vice president to take over the throne
  
  
• now after episode 10 we know shi yeol is watchman and kand san the deposed crown prince
                                                But if the crown prince left his heirloom to the prince lee seol then what is                                                        the other one doing with the yoon ha Like is the battle created by the king                                                                 himself between his kids?

I think the "Your Highness" was more of an inside joke, since watchmen are known as the shadows of royalty, how else would one address the shadow of a royal? They were both laughing at it and it had a light and humorous tone.

Great point! It makes sense now. Even why the Vice Minister did not use him… he was probably just asked to save the guy without revealing his identity as the Watchman of the true heir.
