In honor of Mother's day May 13th, 2012 (for the states at least), I thought it would be fun to start a thread about Mom's in Asian dramas!

Feel free to post the best (and the worst Moms) you have come across in your meanderings.

I recently watched Stars Falling From the Sky.

I really enjoyed this drama - surprisingly - because I had started it once and after the first episode hated the main character and was like I can't stand her for a whole drama.
however, because it's not fair to judge on first impressions and everyone deserves a second chance (lol the teacher in me speaking) I decided to give this drama another go.

The story is about a twenty something that loses both her parents in an accident and then takes custody of her 5 younger siblings.
In a way she goes through what a lot of moms go through, the shift from self-centered existence, to that of protector and caretaker, even if it is more abrupt and accelerated than most.

I also chose this because Mom's don't have to be the ones who gave birth to you to be your mom. So I can say if you would like a nice drama about becoming a mom this one was pretty good.

Freeter Ie o Kau

Family drama about a mother who gets badly depressed and the son she's always taken care of starts taking care of her instead. After the son discovers she has been bullied by the neighbors for years, he starts a part-time job to buy his mom a new house.

Super touching family drama, one of my favourites. The mom's care for her children shows through even in the midst of depression.

My fave drama mom probably Tak Gu's mom in King Of Baking when they are finally reunited that is such a poignant & beautiful moment...I am sure I am missing others out I will come back when I remember :p

my favorite evil mother is Lee Hwi Hyang who played sok bin's mother in http://www.mydramalist.com/korean-drama/1798/my-love-by-my-side oh my gosh was she some crazy evil mom but she sure loved her son :)

The mothers from Aishiteru. One is the mother of a fifth grader who is accused of murder. The other is the mother of a second grader who the fifth grader allegedly murdered. They were both strong and trying their best in their own ways.

I am afraid I must disagree with you...I found her to be an interfering busybody who didn't listen to her son at all & instead sided with the brain dead Oh Ha Ni to conspire to trap her son lol

My fav drama moms are definitely: - Choi Jung Yoon as Seo Do Young in Manny - Shida Mirai as Ichinose Miki in 14 sai no haha. She was just superb. Same goes with the mom who played her mom in the drama. - Eugene as Jung Se Jin in Wonderful Life.
