So I was tracking my favorite/popular actors/actreses for their 2017 drama plans, and I couldn't help but notice SO many of them are moving to Chinese dramas. The ones I can remember off the top of my head were Lee Goon Ji, Park Hae Jin (well, he's already in a C-drama), Ji Chang Wook, Lee Jong Suk and Park Min Young, not to mention the "idol" actors (Yoona, Chanyeol, etc). There are even some C-dramas/films where both the male and female lead are Korean too.

What do you guys think about this? It was really suprising to me, especially because they are all (imho) A-list people who would never have to fight for a lead role in any K-drama.

And I'm a bit weary about the dubbing too. I think vocal tone and whatnot plays a huge role in an actor's performance (ex. Falling for Innocence--I felt like the way the male lead said or shouted things was essential to the the comedy). Doesn't having your voice dubbed take away, like, 1/2 your role?

In the end, it's good for any actor/tress to gain international exposure, but like I said, I'm just suprised by the volume of actors doing it.

Any opinions?

And on a completely unrelated tangent, it's interesting how (or the way it seems) actors/tresses go to China for C-dramas, and Kpop groups/singers to go Japan and sing in Japanese.

I am not sure about the others, but Lee Joon Gi did a Chinese movie, not a drama, and he played a Korean in it, though he spoke Chinese and wasn't dubbed.

I think the amount of Chinese projects for Korean actors will slim down now, thanks to the recent law in China aimed at cutting back on Korean entertainment.

I wanted to watch all of  Lee jong suk, Ji chang wook and Song hye kyo's and when I came across the chinese enter. dramas , I wondered is it their voice, because they do sound a bit different even when they speak in english. However i realised that its dubbed by someone else. it takes away the feel and the the lip syncing doesnt feel as good given we know their voice now.

I understand they want to expand and reach out to larger audience aswell as push the envelope for themselves but I fell in love due to the 100% performance in kdrama so i cant bear to watch the voice over done by someone else while i am looking at them.
