If someone wants to assume a person would blame an entire country for any misfortune and take offense in that, it's something they need to handle themselves.

Of course no one is blaming the US or its citizens or all the lovely people around. But it is a fact that companies which offer dramas to the US, such as DramaFever have been bullying a lot of people.

However, the original content creators are also getting more and more strict. Which is even sillier, because very few could afford to buy so many dramas or even know about them if not for such places. The only reason this entertainment is popular and has profit from fans abroad who buy and pay for many types of items and services connected to it is the fact that so many places have created such a strong global community.
Seems like someone went on an ahead to put some site out there good luck !! and lmao at the massage parlor analogy :D

I totally agree!!!!
Yeah but if you have looked into DramaFever, you are not missing anything. Trust me Europeans and others out there. It's a horrid site. You have five million adds, terrible buff and it takes like 2 hrs to watch a 30 minute drama. It's not worth it even from an American standpoint. And I may seem silly to be offended when people say American, but I just don't want to have a misunderstanding. I'm not proud of our companies either. If you really take a look into America you can find it's treating it's own people bad. It's not the citizens fault, it's the big corporations which by the way I am sure the Asian companies are also involved.
I just heard about that... I feel like my life is gone :'( That's funny (actually not) because just a few hours ago I was talking about how we suffered because of mysoju shutting down and how thankful I was to DC for existing. Life is sure unfair! Can't sleep now... Aigoo :'(

Agreed there. Many are to blame, but the people are definitely not the ones in control of these situations. You guys have it worse in some ways. A lot of folk extend their dislike of companies or politicians to the people and I don't think the American people deserve that kind of association either.
i agree with you in some sense, although the asian companies who make the dramas may not being making money by offering free subbed episodes, in return they are letting the world see their culture and become interested meaning more tourists come to their country plus they would make money in that the OST for the drama would be sold internationally and not just in their country, and also if they sell merchandise from the dramas e.g. pig rabbit toy from you're beautiful people in other countries would buy that too plus they can make money in that when its released on DVD more people may buy it. KBS even though they wont make money from it have subbed videos of some dramas and variety shows on their website called KBS world and also the youtube channel, but they do this knowing they are getting a bigger fan base internationally

They think thwy are loosing money? WTH withour dramapages nobody wpould now about korean and japanese culture and whey would never ever could pierce on their own... So furious!!!
so far I know there were some complaints by korean broadcasting companies ...but the question is who is behind those companies...and to think behind those are only Americans is in these global times really naive .... During the last couple of months, Korean broadcasting companies have been targeting and shutting down many unauthorized streaming websites. Sites which have been shut down include MySoju and KimchiDramas. Sites which are officially authorized by the copyright holders to upload the dramas (such as CrunchyRoll, DramaFever, Hulu, etc.) have been left alone, but broadcasting companies are continuing to actively target and shut down unauthorized streaming websites that upload dramas, movies, and other copyrighted content. This was a 10 months old article but still: it is saying they are continuing....
That is why I am saying we can't fight each other or blame each other. We need to come together and protect our rights. Or force the companies to make the dramas easier to access. I mean seriously, you would think a paying site like DramaFever would have better quality videos, but they do not. It's really sad. Honestly what makes me worried is if Corporations are going to take over the Internet....
FIY. You do realise trying to bring too much attention to the closure of DC/AC could only make things worse for fansubs in general! Everything available on DC is available elsewhere, most of the subs there are from other subbers who BTW 99% have asked people not to repost their stuff on DC. They probably closed because they finally got caught up in too many cease & desists from the various companies due to copyright. Just look around though, it's not the end of the world & you can find all your Dramas in other places. It's not that hard to find. :)

If one volume from a 16-episode drama costs 90 dollars + shipping and the other volume (to have the complete series) another 90 dollars + shipping, they should not wonder why most people choose other ways. The tech is here, the means to have affordable, good quality, fast entertainment delivered to people on a global scale are here, it's just that greed and the obsession with licenses and rules and business deals is keeping those tools from being properly utilized.
This sucks...it really sucks. What a sad sad day for all Asian drama lovers.
