I've never liked American remakes of Asian movies. So I'd be so scared about them ruining this. It's one of my favourite series. And if I'm honest, I don't think it would really translate that well. A lot would need to be changed and therefor could loose the thing that makes so many people love it.

However, the good thing about nowadays is that they don't need tv networks. They can just post the videos on sites like Hulu etc.

Oh yeah! I forgot about that. :)
You guys are awesome! Thanks for responding to this post! I have to agree with Shepard on this though I still hope to see this made, even if there is no hope for funding it. America is way different though there are "rich schools'' in America and yes to keeping the teen sex down like Cherrybunny has said... To much of our American drama's turning sexual.
Skye-N-Rain Please keep us inform if its possible!
I am not going to support this. My country needs to leave the Asian dramas to the Asians. They know how to do their stuff, we do not. I mean just look what we did to the horror films, now imagine Boys Over Flower Americanized. Not gonna work. Our cultures are just too different. :/ Well, at least they didn't do an Americanized Death Note. If that had gotten a greenlight we would've been stuck with Zac Efron as Light. Boo.
Besides why do they need that much money? I've seen Americanized versions of dramas on youtube for years done well. You just need a camera, some places to shoot, some friends and there ya go.

If you want to make a truly professional drama, I think even 250k is not enough. Especially not for a 10-16 episode show. You don't want to just get any actor/actress.
i seriously doubt they'll get the funding for it, at least this time around. i too wonder about the relatively small budget. one of the things i felt the korean version did better than the previous two was to show the opulence and bling. in meteor garden Jerry yan's house looked like a broke down best western and his clothes did not exude "rich boy". in hana yori dango the sets and wardrobe also failed to convince me these guys were super rich. with a budget this small i dont know that they could give the feeling of opulence.
It sounds like it would become a night time soap. Here's the problem in my opinion with American shows 1.it's like they never end and 2.they over play everything. I'm also worried that they would hope to gain fans of some one like Zac Efron or Robert Pattinson so they would have one of them be the lead. If they did that they might have Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner be our two male leads.

With all that being said if it happens I'll still watch it. Hopefully it'll be great but if not then at least I'll have watched every version.
Could this be a scam... o.O

i doubt it, the website for the collective is very well done, it would have been expensive and time consuming to put together, too much work or money for a scam, esp. since they only get the money if they reach the goal.

the link on the kickstarter page doesnt work but if you just type int he web address it works.
It's a great idea.. But a no for me XD I don't really like american remakes :|
I think people are creating a fuss about nothing. If you look at the Kickstarter page, they barely raised a bit over a thousand out of $100,000 that needs to be raised. It obviously isn't happening.
Good because I do not want an American remake. I have yet to see a live action I truly enjoy and an American version would be almost impossible to do. They would have to change almost everything about the manga to fit my country's standards. I really hope this does not happen and it's Boys Over Flower, you should use big named stars. Not no-names. :/ I guess cause their budget is tiny they can only afford no-names. Seriously though, my country needs to stop trying to remake Asian stuff. They don't do it well. Just look at the Asian horror films Americans remade. Don't even get me started on Ring/Sadako.

Do people actually get their money back whenever a kickstarter goal isn't reached?
