Boys Over Flower "American"!?

So I'm kinda new at this I wasn't sure were to post this at if it should go over in the none Asian Drama's but since I'm actually going to to be talking about both I guess it works? So I heard yesterday that Wazego Collective are trying to launch an American Boys Over Flower. There looking for us to donate money for the casting of the actors and I guess whoever donates gets some kind of gifts. There hoping by late 2013 for it to air. So what do you think of an American Boys Over Flower? Do you think it's a good idea? How about the cast?

I was just reading about it and I couldn't figure out whether to get excited about it or not :p It's not something I would donate towards, but if it did make it to production I would watch it! I can't even imagine who they would get to play all of the characters though! I can't think of anyone who would fit off the top of my head!

Uhm...I don't know, I usually hate ALL American remakes of Asian movies...the just lose the original spirit! It could have one positive effect, though...maybe a remake would make it possible for more people to be interested in the Asian ones!

I would totally watch it! I don't think I would donate either I'm a big fan as long as we don't get Twilight actors or even worse Disney Channel Actors I think it would turn out great they did say New Rookie Actors just starting out. Here's the link.

Oh, thank you! Even though I don't really want it, I'd still watch. I think it's kind of silly they'd say that about the casting. Isn't it more likely they're getting rookie actors because they don't have the money to get already famous actors? I've never heard of Wazego before today. Haha, I wish my actress friend wanted to be on a screen rather than a stage. I'd tell her to try for this. Don't worry, the link worked. :)

Ohh it worked??!!! Great! Yea it seems like it but would you rather go with Famous or none? I think I would stick with none famous actors, it's my first hearing about Wazego to ...maybe a new company? -looks it up-. What character would she play if you don't mind me asking?

I think Boys Over Flowers is one of the few dramas that would actually work as an American version. Unfortunately, however awesome it would be to have an American version, I'd be worried that the story would just get screwed up too much. One thing teen dramas do over here is play up the sex and that is something that is either kept to minimum or absent altogether in Asian dramas, and is a big reason why I enjoy them so much. I hope that if they do make an American version, they keep the original story intact and don't try to to sex it up. >_<

I couldn't imagine her as Jan Di. >< Maybe Jan Di's friend. I'm wondering how their story will be. Will they base it off the manga or look to one of the drama versions? I've still only seen the Korean one.

I am not sure if they can do a remake of the drama because i think the schools and those things are different in the USA than in Korea. On the other hand it would be a good idea because i could hope for a german synchronization. :)

I doubt it will get funded. They are nowhere near their goal and they only have a few days left. Even if they did get the funding, there's no guarantee that a television network will agree to air it.

I'm actually trying to interview the creator of the kickstarter for MDL. But I also doubt they will get funded seeing as how they need 99,000 more in only 6 days (out of 20). However, the good thing about nowadays is that they don't need tv networks. They can just post the videos on sites like Hulu etc.

I don't care either way but it would be cool if they did make this. I have no idea if it's gonna suck or not they do have a small budget so I doubt they will be using big name actors. They also said they would go by the manga so they're actually fans of the series so it's not like they want to make this and know nothing about the original. But looking at the fact that they need to raise $99,000 in less than a week I don't see this happening. But I don't see why so many people are against this though especially from looking at the drama fever blog. I also think people forget that the Korean version is a remake and not the original. If Taiwan and South Korea can make remakes then why can't the U.S. make one? Also they said they would stream this on Roku if it got funded so they don't need a t.v. network to make this.
